The Hourglass Tavern has a unique setup with three small rooms on three floors and eclectic decor. We were a party of 12 so only shared the upstairs room with two other tables. It was nice being able to have conversation without yelling over other guests. The staff is entertaining, friendly and efficient. The food was okay. The coconut rice... More

Situated in restaurant row, we expected more. When we were first seated on the 3rd floor, the hostess asked if we would move to the 1st floor. As a courtesy, she would buy us a round for helping them to accommodate a larger party. No problem, but she never informed our waitress. I ordered the veal chop special which was... More

We had a nice time at this restaurant, but this was despite the food, not thanks to it. The dining rooms are pleasant and quiet and the service was personable and efficient, but the food - very so so. We had very bland crab cakes and even blander pasta, which was supposed to be with diablo sauce but was nothing... More

We came here for an after work happy hour. We were on the 3rd floor lounge. The place is very well decorated and has a very classic look to it. The food was excellent and the drinks were really good as well. I would definitely go back.

It is such an awesome place. Second Gloria a star with an awesome bartender who makes a drink called penicillin a must try. Also the short ribs and garlic mash awesome. Priced reasonably will. It out a debt in your pockets. Strongly recommend this place. Service will not disappoint you. All very good.

Our first time in this restaurant, make sure you have reservations. It's a tiny but intimate place on the first floor. Second floor I believe can hold more customers (there was a party of 7 going up there) but the first floor is small..but so cute! The food was very good (I had a steak which was tender and done... Great little restaurant on restaurant row, close to all the Broadway shows. Food was delicious and service was good as well. Dine on 1st and 3rd floors, bar on 2nd. Lovely ambience

Since we were seeing a Sunday off Broadway matinee we decided to go for brunch in midtown NYC. Chose Hourglass as it had a good write up and more stars than others. First, since it is a renovated 3 story (tiny) brownstone, we could have been asked to go upstairs. But because I am using a cane due to hip... More

Okay, we met 2 friends here for a pre-show dinner. What a nice surprise. Prices are reasonable; service is friendly; the only real drawback is that dining space is very tight. I will be going back.

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
