Came back for brunch again and the food was once again excellent. Smoked salmon was mouth watering and the egg benedict was just outstanding. Love to come back again.

the place to go before shopping in SoHo! I have been there for breakfast during my trip to NY city, the morning we decided to have and walk (and shopping of course!) in SoHo. The waiters are very nice and also helped us find what we were looking for in the menu (there are many options in the menu, and... More

We had difficult time locating the restaurant on the bus. We were plesantly surprised when we arrived. We were there for breakfast. We chose Egg Bennett traditional style. It was very delicious. Our breakfast arrived quickly from the kitchen. We would love to go back and try other items on the menu. This is a small quaint restaurant. We would... More

Wandering through SoHo looking for a place to eat, we stumbled on the Cupping Room Cafe. We couldn't have been more delighted and impressed. We had the salmon special, chicken pot pie special (amazing), Greek salad, burger and tuna melt. Very reasonable prices (all around $15), friendly service, some nice craft ales and lagers. Followed by a gorgeous baked cheesecake... More

After a long day of shopping with friends during a girls weekend in the city we were all starving and came across The Cupping Room Cafe. The place was so cozy and inviting from the moment we walked in. Igor and his entire staff were very welcoming and personable. I had the veggie burger with the pesto mayo...to die for!... More

We visited the 9/11 Memorial and were walking towards SoHo when we came across the Cupping Room Cafe. We entered through what they referred to as the "other door" and had to walk past the kitchen to get to the host stand to get seated. The place was buzzing for Friday brunch (day after Thanksgiving). The food was delicious -... More

We had the tuna melt and turkey club. Both were ok, nothing special. Service was super friendly! Atmosphere was fun and warm with oldies music playing and a great sky light. Would love to go back and try something different

The Cupping Room Cafe was established in 1977. It was originally a wholesale coffee establishment. Different blends of coffee were brewed and tasted by perspective customers. This act of blending and tasting different coffees is called cupping - hence the name The Cupping Room. The coffee tasting went so well that the owners decided to change the name from The Coffee Connection to The Cupping Room Cafe. They also decided to open the back of the store and sell coffee and pie to the local artists.

The building hosting The Cupping Room is a landmark building. It was the first "tall" building in SoHo and is more than 100 years old. The high tin ceilings, hard wood floors, pot-belly stove and exposed brick walls are all part of the original setting.

The Cupping Room was a home for artists and locals. Today it is still a neighborhood place where you can see the locals and the famous come together in our homey environment.

Staying in SoHo

Neighbourhood Profile
Once the artistic hub of New York City, SoHo (South of Houston) is now one of the premiere shopping destinations in the world. Housing everything from the most popular luxury brands to swank boutiques you won’t find anywhere else, this is a sophisticated shopper’s dream come true. Broadway teems with big-name stores and people during the day, while Prince and Spring Streets are the other main drags to explore by foot. Take a detour down the quieter side streets to see the real star of the district –majestic cast-iron architecture everywhere you look. What were once warehouses and art studios are now meticulously restored loft buildings favored by many of New York’s celebrities, making SoHo one of the trendiest addresses in the city. The pretty streets of Nolita (North of Little Italy) offer a more sedate vibe, with plenty of tiny boutiques and hip restaurants to seek out.
