Wonderful location! Amazing pasta alla carbonara and spaghetti alla amatriciana exactly as an italian want them to be! Lots of wine and spirits! Cheap prices compared to quality! A NYC must!

After a day of St Paddys day celebrating in NYC it was time (11p) for a bite. VDP was the perfect venue. Delicious Italian (get the VDP specialties) served in a cozy relaxing atmosphere with well-appreciated serrvice. Mangia. And reasonably priced.

This is the best Italian food I have had outside Italy! We were welcomed by the owner with Prosecco which is always a good start. The décor is warm and friendly and has a fun atmosphere with a real buzz to it. We had a wonderful waiter called Seve who enhanced the evening with his charming service, thank you Seve.... More

Visited here as a party of four. Small and cosy. Atmosphere lively and welcoming. Food was fantastic. Lobster ravioli was to die for. Need to book as tables are limited but well worth the visit. Highly recommended

This is a veritable gem of a restaurant with the feel of a big Italian city establishment, where orchestrated chaos meets excellent cuisine and service. The staff is outstanding and handles the packed restaurant with remarkable efficiency and joy. The food is fabulously delicious, from the antipasti to the pasta and meat dishes. A meal here is delicious, exciting and... More

Cramped environment with inattentive service. Dirty, worn menus prefaced a limited selection though reasonably priced. Experience was saved by excellent Food but too many other better restaurants for us to return.

Love this place! Have 3 times in the last year and has been a Great every time. The Quality is excellent and Authentic (I Have lived and visited Italy many times) and most of all consistent. Might be the best Pesto I have ever had. From the Wine (Brunello by the glass) to the Limoncello and Pana Cotta, just fabulous.... More

Very cosy italian restaurant with authentic food and flavours, and at a very good price. Try the daily specials. Friendly and gentle service, nothing bad to say. One of the best italian restaurants I have been outside of Italy. Don't forget to bring cash.

Staying in East Village

Neighbourhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighbourhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighbourhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
