We are first timers in New York and went to Chinatown while we were there. We were hungry and were walking around trying to find a restaurant to eat at. We came across Joe's Ginger and came in to eat. We were surprised by their horrendous food. Their food was below average and their portion sizes were small compared to... More

We went into this restaurant as it looked fairly busy but had a table. They served the rice first whilst I then waited 10 mins for my main, my husband waited a further 15 mins for his by which time the rice was cold. Service without any smile or courtesy which isn't a deal breaker but the fact that my... More

We found this place off Mott street while looking for a place to eat a late supper. The hours are convenient and the location in the heart of Chinatown is easy to access. We were four people and each ordered a dish to share along with two orders of soup dumplings. We ordered the pork ones as one of our... More

Due to the queues at Joe's Shanghai and being short on time we decided to try this place out as it looked busy enough but we could still get a table. Unfortunately, this was probably the worst Chinese I have ever eaten in my life. Our entire party of 8 did not finish a dish and our verdict was unanimous.... More

After 100 Mott Street, and when the original Joe's Shanghai is too crowded, this is our second stop on our dumpling crawl. The XLB's here are the same as Joe's without the lines- their spicy dumplings are incredible too!

Due to long lines as Joe's Shanghai, we came here based on same owner and high Zagat ratings for this place. Service was mediocre and soup dumplings were not good. The other food was just average. Go somewhere else in Chinatown - there are plenty of better options. One nice thing I'll say was there was no wait on a... More

We just wanted to eat a Chinese meal in China Town. The signs on the window seemed to say that the food would be good. It was just average and overpriced. The waiter had no personality and seemed unable to smile at all. The pot of tea which came as soon as we sat down was a nice touch. The... More

The place was busy and tight fitting. The food was OK. The service was rushed and impersonal. The dumplings were fine although they seem to be heavily promoted by the local. My wife and I shared some dumplings, stir-fried beef, and some fried rice with a pot of green tea. The pricing was reasonable, the food was OK. No Credit... More

This is a typical Chinatown restaurant. The price is reasonable, and the taste of the food is delicious. However, the receptionist and the wait people are not professionally trained. Oh, they accept cash only. Be aware of the sings on the window. I was surprised though that they have liquor license.

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown
Bursting with an amazing array of sights, sounds, and smells on every block, a visit to Chinatown feels like entering a different world. It’s a colorful spectacle that gets even more crowded on weekends, when families stream in to enjoy huge dim sum feasts and to stock up at the markets on Mott Street. To take a break from the buzz, grab something sweet from one of the many bakeries in the area and head to Columbus Park, where many Chinatown residents exercise, play games, and chat the day away.
