A must on every visit to NYC before a trip to the Met, it offers Greek favorites, burgers, NY deli-style sandwiches, soups, big deal entrees and so much more. Breakfast is great and gyro...made in classic real style... a winner. Rice pudding a true comfort food. Even when it's super busy staff is polite and doesn't rush patrons. Tiny but... More

We were lost and looking for the infamous New York salt beef.... A local suggested amity and it didn't disappoint. The service was friendly and the manager recommended the hot pastrami on rye with melted Swiss cheese. OMG - that sandwich alone was worth the air fair to NYC. Guys - make sure you pop on in....

The food was great (I enjoyed the Reuben with pastrami), but even more impressive were the friendly staff and welcoming atmosphere.

The summary should be: worse than bad. This is how we felt today when we had lunch at the restaurant. Our worst experience in NYC. The worst part: service and general management. We travel with two kids and we asked several times about the size of different items in the menu, informing to the waiter that we didn't want too... More

This is in a very pricey part of Madison Ave, and near the Met museum, so don't be shocked at the high prices. It is very popular with locals and gets lots of tourists too. It is a long narrow coffee shop, and not really attractive at all. Pricing is high for a coffee shop, and the food ordinary, nothing... More

The room itself is small and dated like so much of New York (something we in California are not used to so much). A busy diner with quick service and smiling waiters as others have pointed out. I enjoyed the Gyro although not the style I am used to out West as there were a lot of ingredients proportionally other... More

If you're in the mood for a simple meal near the museum, this is a very good choice. Like most diners in the city, it has a large menu with lots of different items, and quality can vary considerably. Choose with care and you should do fine. My veggie burger was a bit mushy and was clearly mass produced --... More

I might have been in the wrong neighborhood when I was hung for lunch. I stumbled upon this place, saw a sign announcing gyros, so I decided to go in. Gyros are usually filling and make for a good meal. I chose a chicken gyro-one of the least expensive items on the menu ($10). It arrived tightly wrapped in aluminum... More

We stopped in here after spending the day at The Met. Classic diner food. Friendly, local atmosphere with great service and delicious food.

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighbourhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighbourhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighbourhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
