Great food and great service. I do not agree with the other reviews. The service was attentive but not over bearing. I have lived in Italy and this was just as good as anything I have had there. Best pesto I've ever had. Price was good . 5 people two bottles of wine dessert coffee with tip under $300. I... More

The only positives here were my average minestrone soup and the nice waiters. The physical space is embarrassingly poor. Looks like management ripped out old furnishings and dumped in some discount chairs. The back area is dirty. The bathroom has one of those scent diffusers. Go anywhere else. When the caffe latte was bad. The roll dry as the desert... More

The place is nice inside and the food was just ok. I felt the portions were extremely small for the prices and the service was awful. I couldn't get a glass of water and when I asked for more bread the waiter seemed to have an attitude. When he finally came with the bread he gave 2 of us bread... More

I am a neighbour. I have been going to Vivolo Restaurant and Cucina Vivolo for more than 20 years and I have sent there a good number of friends and diplomats I work with. After being posted abroad, I went back last night with an important client. What happened? Both meals were bad: my pasta had something sour and rotten... More

We went for an early dinner with my husband's aunt, who is a local. It was a last minute decision, so we didn't have a reservation, but were warmly greeted by the manager/owner, I think, and seated right away. This is a lovely place in a gorgeous old brownstone. The first floor is lively and fun, with rich wood, a... More

I visited Cucina Vivolo with my mother-in-law and her boyfriend from Italy on the way to Dicapo Opera Theater in the neighborhood. I was surprised by the warmth with which we were treated immediately upon entering. The downstairs is a little worn and loud when crowded, but if you climb the steep stairs to the upper level, you find yourself... More

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighbourhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighbourhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighbourhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
