So sad that this place is closing its doors at the end of the year. It's such a surprising treat to find this quaint train restaurant at the top of Bloomingdales. Excellent food, fabulous service and a rather lovely glass of Sancerre was very much enjoyed.

The restaurant is in a dining car--the food was actually good and a fun experience. The staff were all dressed in black and white.

We went for a Sunday brunch in October. We showed up at 11:30 which was when they open. We were promptly seated and served. The food was excellent. They were out of the crab that was needed for the crab guacamole but otherwise everything was perfect. It is in a romantic little railroad dining car on the six floor of... More

Hidden on the top floor of Bloomingdales is an amazing restaurant. Follow the stairs past the kitchen department and you emerge into an amazing room. On the roof is a restaurant designed as a train carriage. Beautiful and sexy. Stylish and sophisticated. When we were there a lady from New York elite was celebrating her birthday with champagne and strawberries... More

I've been a shopper at NYC Bloomingdales for DECADES. And I stumbled upon this place after shopping the home section the other day and I can't believe this restaurant has been here the entire time. It's unique decor replicates a dining car in one of the luxury overnight trains that would take passengers across the french countryside. How lovely! I... More

The atmosphere really carried one back in time. It was charming. The service was attentive and pleasant. Unfortunately I found the food extremely bland. I almost never use salt, but felt that was missing from the hangar steak and potatoes, as well as other seasonings.

Located in Bloomingdale's store on 59th. It's on the 6th floor. Great atmosphere and great food. Reminds me of the same place in Paris. Wonderful !!. .

I had such high hopes for this place too...first off, the poor service is what ruined it for me. The hanger steak was good, and fingerling potatoes were delicious, but after arriving and asking for coffee, then waiting 20 minutes for it, is unacceptable. The refill also had to be requested and that was at least 10 minutes after the... More

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighbourhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighbourhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighbourhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
