Excellent German food. We've been there often. We strongly prefer Friday, Saturday or Sunday because they serve -- The Pork Shank -- then. It is outstanding. It's often very crowded so we try to get there as early as possible (last Saturday night it was...More

Very good service, but the limited menu was a bit disappointing after a long walk to get there. The belly pork was excellent and the very good beer on tap. The one downside is the requirement to pay cash, which came as a shock and...More

We got there upon opening at 1:00 p.m. Saturday. It was slammed by 1:28 p.m. The service, depsite the remarkable amount of traffic in and out of the place, was very good. The food and beer, simply amazing. I had Bratwurstsemmel with a side of...More

Great selection of fine German beers on tap, including the sublime Reissdorf Kolsch. Several other German classics, too fresh as can be and served in authentic glassware from the brewery. German food also good. Outdoor seating a treat in season. Laid back spot for a...More

The food is very good. The service is attentive. The room gets very crowded and they do not accept credit cards. Also, it is challenging to get to their LES location from midtown. All things considered, yes - I will return.

What a hidden treasure. This authentic German restaurant was totally enjoyable by true Germans. Try the schnitzel, spaezle, and or schmaln! The beer and gluhwein were great. You won't be disappointed if you are looking for a true German experience in NYC!

I had enjoyed the atmosphere at Zum Schneider long time ago watching a World Cup game, but I recently had the pleasure of having dinner there. The Wiener Schnitzel I ordered were delicious, and there are many other great food options on the menu, as...More

It's always difficult to find an authentic German place that isn't too "Americanized". Zum Schneider does a pretty good job of hitting the mark. Sure the Nürnberger were not up to my finely honed palate, but the weisswurst were totally legit, and the brezn were...More

With actual German staff, Zum Schneider is an adorable and authentic restaurant with a lovely selection of German beer and food. The interior makes you feel like you are in Germany. It's clean, comfortable and enjoyable. I recommend it if you love A good time.

East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village,
which offers plenty of unique small businesses
catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college

old-time neighbourhood feel that you can still
experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned
shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of
