Celebrating my mother's 80th birthday in NYC, we went here for a multigenerational dinner on a snowy night. And we loved it. Great ambience - intimate, wonderful food that we all enjoyed (artichoke dip, devils on horseback, bouillabaise, duck - all good) and of course...More

Had the place recommended. At first sight you don’t think you got the directions right, but YES it is at the end of the dim lit graffiti alley. Interior a fantastic mix of hunter’s trophies and flea market furnitures. Food good with fast service. Long...More

My girlfriend and I came here for brunch to fuel up for a day of biking, and we loved it. I'm really big on restaurant atmosphere, sometimes to a fault. I'll go to a restaurant that looks really cool, even if their food isn't the...More

We went for my birthday - and were entranced by the next table's dessert, and started a chat. Made a friend! But the food is great, and the ambience better. A hidden gem, in my opinion. Have the artichoke dip! It's incredible (and filling).

Just had lunch here - what a cool place. It is down a little alley - Freeman Alley. Two floors, plenty of space. Bohemian type of decorations that look very cool. Food is also wonderful and waitstaff very friendly. Great comfort food menu

We were recommended to come to freeman’s by a friend and they didn’t disappoint. We went a little nuts and had a couple of lovely cocktails, eggs florentine, French toast and tater tots! This was simply the best way to start our break!

Freeman’s feels like a travel back in time in terms of the decor and the atmosphere. Food was very good as was the service. The place is hidden in an alley so you don’t stumble onto it by accident - you need to want to...More

We very much loved the atmosphere of this place! Wonderful deco, nice vibes. As a starter we had the artichoke dip which was amazing (although rich so you can easily share). Our main courses we found good, though nothing too special. Freemans nevertheless will remain...More

Not sure I'd go, (or if they'd do that), for just coffee and cake.

Freemans makes food to order. While it's unlikely to have gluten-free bread, I think the cooks will try to accommodate dietary needs.

Located in Lower East Side of Manhattan Freemans offers a rugged and clandestine respite in a Colonial American Tavern setting. The cuisine is early American: simple, rustic and inspired by Old World traditions. Freemans is well known for beautiful artisanal cocktails and warm service.
