Walking down the colorful graffiti alley to the delightful front entrance to Freemans, I felt like this restaurant was going to exceed my expectations. Staff was very accommodating in that we were late for our reservation and they still sat us right away. The space...More

Great in all categories food, service, ambiance. And, getting there feels like an adventure... reminds me of all those wonderful hidden streets in London and Paris.

So glad we discovered Freemans! The 5 of us thoroughly enjoyed the eclectic vibe of the dining room. (Try not to rush in and out - soak in the unique rooms and wall decor) Although we had to use our phone flashlight to review the...More

Instagram worthy alley façade to this restaurant located in a very old building. Dark, mysterious and cosy in winter. Even if it appears busy go inside and ask, there is plenty of room upstairs. Lovely homey style food.

We went on a recommendation of a friend. They raved about the food. One it's New York so we know we are going to pay an higher price for cocktails and a plate of food. You literally walk down a dark alley to the restaurant....More

Freeman's is a wonderful experience The food is very good but not extraordinary, French American fusion Still Freeman's really is a magical restaurant. Needs to be experienced. The only thing in my opinion that could be improved is the sometimes very moody service

Take note if people don't know it as Freeman's Restaurant they'll know it's in Freeman's Alley. This hidden gem serves mostly American cuisine that I found to be very pleasing. I found the joy even locating the restaurant at the end of alley. I recommend...More

Saw Freeman's on a NY brunch site and we were not disappointed. Quick subway ride from where we were staying on 42nd street and worth the trip. Inventive menu but not the "oh so trendy" places NY has so many of- no "foam" here just...More

Freemans makes food to order. While it's unlikely to have gluten-free bread, I think the cooks will try to accommodate dietary needs.

Located in Lower East Side of Manhattan Freemans offers a rugged and clandestine respite in a Colonial American Tavern setting. The cuisine is early American: simple, rustic and inspired by Old World traditions. Freemans is well known for beautiful artisanal cocktails and warm service.
