Ate here recently on a Saturday night - no booking - so was lucky to get a seat at the bar (on my own so not impossible to do in NYC if you try). I love Thai food - especially Thai food that builds on specific regions like this one seems to - Northeastern Thai. I had 2 dishes: The... More

This is a small restaurant where the majority of the clientele were locals. Not your usual Thai recipes on the menu. You won't find red curry or pad Thai you will find snails, frog legs and duck plus chicken dishes all freshly cooked and served by really friendly staff. I sat at the bar as it was busy so booking... Thai food should be relatively cheap compared to this place. The food is good but it's not out of this world good.

Outstanding traditional Thai food, not your usual fare. Three of us had a variety of dishes to share: boneless beef ribs with curry, potato, onion and peanut, a small whole fish (dorone) with grilled leeks and dipping sauces, the spicy rotisserie chicken and banana flower salad (Yum Kai Hua Pli) were all excellent as were the pea shoots sauteed with... "Uncle Boon's"?! First, how could it be any good. And second, doesn't that sound like a Cajun place or something?! Anyway, we came here on a Sunday night. You can call to get on the waiting list when you're on your way. Works great; they text with 10 minute warning asking you to confirm or cancel. No response means cancel.... More

Wow... this restaurant is well worth the wait! Uncle Boons has surpassed my expectations on so many levels with the high caliber of food and service in addition to its relatively affordable price point for a Michelin-starred restaurant. As a party of 4, we indulged in a vast array of options -- 3 small plates, 2 large plates, and 2... More

probably one of my favorite restaurant in NYC. It's tiny so you might need to wait a bit for a table but the food is absolutely amazing!!! They serve great cocktails too. The lamb salad and the noodles are so yummm I would really recommend them. Be careful most of the food is a bit spicy 😍

Uncle Boons was a treat. The food was a true authentic Thai experience a real relief from the common, bogus Thai cuisine that is to often encountered. The ambiance was wonderful and really put you into Thailand, the front door is basically a portal out of NYC. Will be returning soon to enjoy the authenticity of Thailands beautiful cuisine.

The sweetbread dish (Mee Krob) was superb. What's amazing about this dish is that all of the individual flavors and textures blend together well but are also distinguishable: sweet, salty, pungent, crispy, smooth/creamy (sweetbreads). It's truly a hole in one. This dish alone would be sufficient to give Uncle Boon's five stars. The garlic and soy marinated frog's legs were... More

Uncle boons is local to us, We've been a few times and it seems to be getting better! It's a busy place, a little on the pricey side. They don't take reservations and the wait is usually around 45 mins +, luckily there are a bunch of bar options in the hood to keep you busy while you wait for... More

Staying in Nolita

Neighbourhood Profile
Nolita
Despite being just off of busy Houston Street, Nolita maintains a low-key vibe that makes it a pleasant retreat in the heart of lower Manhattan. Short for “North of Little Italy,” Nolita was once considered to be part of Little Italy. Today, the neighbourhood is popular with young fashionistas popping in and out of the chic independent boutiques that line Mulberry, Mott and Elizabeth Streets. In addition to shopping, there are cozy restaurants and sidewalk cafes serving everything from new-school Italian food to the world-famous cronuts. While small in size (Nolita stretches just a few blocks in each direction), it’s a great neighbourhood to spend an afternoon people watching, window-shopping, and grabbing a bite to eat.
