The whole experience is fabulous - entry through the diner and the grey 'no admittance' door, the subterranean, candle lit restaurant, the cocktails and the food. Loved it!

Great Mexican food. Particularly the tacos and corn on the cob. Margaritas were exceptional. Would definitely recommend.

Doesnt look like anything from outside. The portier lets you in to the basement if you have a reservation..go through the kitchen..and get into a really cosy restaurant! The tacos and margaritas are OK/good. Loved the corn and the queso (cheese)! Make a reservation in good advance!

Quality of the food is really good but portions are relatively small for the price. Cool atmosphere. Great guacamole and fresh chips

The place itself is nice. Food was above average and prices were fairly reasonable. The only problems we found were that (i) music was too loud - up to the point that it was difficult to communicate with your table mates - and (ii) the tables were very small and very close one to another. After ordering a few dishes... More

It was a great meal - ceviche was amazing and the taco selection was simple but delicious, service was fun and efficient and the team obviously love what they do. Only down side was that we wanted to visit the bar down stairs and we needed reservations even to visit for a drink

One of the best experiences ever! Went here for a friends 40th. We were a group of loud Aussies, who were a world away from home. Amazing service, amazing food, and what a pig! The atmosphere was incredible, and we honestly had the time of our lives. Such great memories created. Thank you La Esquina for living up to my... More

I have been to this restaurant many times while living in NYC 6 years ago and on most trips back there. I was keen to see if it still had the same great standard of food and atmosphere on this trip since the novelty factor of the hidden restaurant and walking through the kitchen etc had long wore off. It... More

My brother invited me to eat dinner at this place. When I arrived I couldn't believe my own eyes. I thought we were going to a real restaurant, but it looked more like a small take away diner. For the sake of my brother I held in my disappointment. My brother spoke to the staff and suddenly this guy told... More

Staying in SoHo

Neighbourhood Profile
Once the artistic hub of New York City, SoHo (South of Houston) is now one of the premiere shopping destinations in the world. Housing everything from the most popular luxury brands to swank boutiques you won’t find anywhere else, this is a sophisticated shopper’s dream come true. Broadway teems with big-name stores and people during the day, while Prince and Spring Streets are the other main drags to explore by foot. Take a detour down the quieter side streets to see the real star of the district –majestic cast-iron architecture everywhere you look. What were once warehouses and art studios are now meticulously restored loft buildings favored by many of New York’s celebrities, making SoHo one of the trendiest addresses in the city. The pretty streets of Nolita (North of Little Italy) offer a more sedate vibe, with plenty of tiny boutiques and hip restaurants to seek out.
