The original flavour of the NY cheesecake. We tried 3 different flavours as the size allow you to do so. All of them were really good. My favourite was the plain with raspberry sauce.

Going off other TripAdvisor reviews, we decided to try this cheescake joint. It did not disappoint! Cute little cheesecakes so you can sample a few. Cannoli was also wonderful. The staff was very friendly.

Oh yeah, I NEVER get over this cheesecake. I tried it first time years ago and it hasn't changed a bit. It is simply THE BEST cheesecake in the whole nation for real. Just enough sweet but not too much, just enough creamy but not too much.. i mean.. wow. I just must end this review because nothing adequate other... More

Eileen's is a small shop, one that does not dazzle you. But wait until you try their cheesecakes. With a myriad of flavors, you'll surely find something that strikes your fancy. Go if you can.

I have read about this place before and guess it's been in films. It's certainly the hip place to go. However it's the wonderful variety that makes this place so special. Here is my tip. Don't be greedy and buy mini cheese cake then you get a real chance at the variety without too much taken back to your hotel... More

Walked in after Chinese New Year Celebration and as I remembered this place having great reviews, I decided to stop by and try their cheesecake. We had a mini strawberry cheesecake, omg it was delicious; and a chocolate covered cannoli which, honestly was a bit soggy and the ricotta was not fresh so overall an ok experience as the cannoli... I googled to find the best cheesecake in New York and Eileens came up again and again and as it seemed to be located fairly close to where I was staying, I went in search. I got a bit lost but the thought of the 'wonderful' cheesecakes spurred me on. When I found it, it is a tiny shop selling... More

We got a selection of cakes to go: a couple of mini plain cheesecakes, a peanut butter blast, a chocolate mousse and another chocolate cake. All of them were delicious. The girl will be dreaming of the cheesecake when back in London.

Description
Eileen's Special Cheesecake opened for business in December, 1975, and arrived in lower Manhattan on December 4, 1976. It was a "ghost town" when I first arrived, but that didn't bother me because the rent was low and I desperately needed a place to bake for my growing wholesale business. I hadn't considered the retail aspects of the business until people started knocking on the door of the bakery wanting to buy cheesecake. With that encouragement, I purchased a bakery case and began to conduct retail business. Soon after our cheesecake attracted the press and we were listed in "Best Bites" in New York Magazine. Radio station WOR rated us "Number One Cheesecake" and we appeared on television quite often whipping up batters of cheesecake. Time passed, and now Cleveland Place is in a popular area where the mix of people and restaurants and shops are so unique. Downtown is becoming the "place to be", and we are actually on most maps now. We survived difficult times, and now "let the good times roll"!

Staying in Nolita

Neighbourhood Profile
Nolita
Despite being just off of busy Houston Street, Nolita maintains a low-key vibe that makes it a pleasant retreat in the heart of lower Manhattan. Short for “North of Little Italy,” Nolita was once considered to be part of Little Italy. Today, the neighbourhood is popular with young fashionistas popping in and out of the chic independent boutiques that line Mulberry, Mott and Elizabeth Streets. In addition to shopping, there are cozy restaurants and sidewalk cafes serving everything from new-school Italian food to the world-famous cronuts. While small in size (Nolita stretches just a few blocks in each direction), it’s a great neighbourhood to spend an afternoon people watching, window-shopping, and grabbing a bite to eat.
