New York was the first destination on our honeymoon and being a massive cheesecake fan we of course made a beeline for this place given its rave reviews. And it didn’t disappoint! It’s quite an unassuming place with not a huge amount of seating and...More

My wife and I shared a strawberry cheesecake tart and a cannoli. I would highly recommend both. Great place for a post lunch treat.

Came across this randomly when out walking and felt like a treat. Had 3 mini cheese cakes between 2 of us and they were all unreal. Great flavours and nice and light. Lemonade was a little too sweet but they couldn’t away from the amazing...More

Perfect portion, amazing flavour and great selection. There is not one thing I would change about it.. we had the caramel/pecan and the marble cheesecakes and they were both amazing.

The last day of our trip to New York. We’d read the reviews and had to pay a visit. We walked from Bleeker Street Pizza and found Eileen’s easily. The store was busy with locals and tourists. You could see the lady taking orders on...More

I love cheesecake. And no need to mess with it, so I ordered the plain classic. It was delicious. If I had more days and more space I would have ordered a full size just for myself. It was fab!!

So I thought that Buzzfeed hyped this place just as a publicity stunt (no offense please!). They so did not. It is not just one of the (if not The) best desserts I've ever had, it is one of the best foods I've ever had....More

This place is worth a visit! The cheesecake is really tasty and creamy. We bought the cheesecake to take away and really enjoyed it. We will definitely visit this place again.

This place is recommended to us by our friends who live in New York. The cheesecake is creamy but doesn't feel too heavy nor too sweet, and the portion is good for one person (just perfect in my opinion).

We were looking for authentic NYC cheesecake and Eileen’s was the perfect location to satisfy our needs. Cheesecake was amazing as was the service. Small location with limited seating but we didn’t have any problems finding a seat.

Funny how the Q&A invite-to-answer system works. I got the sugar free one but not this. The answer here is much simpler: Yes. But melumar already told you that. ;)

I stand to be corrected but I don't think they do on their regular menu. I have very little doubt they'd make you one, though, as a special order. Either way, if you don't get a clear answer here (and even if you do), I'd... More

Eileen's Special Cheesecake opened for business in December, 1975, and arrived in lower Manhattan on December 4, 1976. It was a "ghost town" when I first arrived, but that didn't bother me because the rent was low and I desperately needed a place to bake for my growing wholesale business. I hadn't considered the retail aspects of the business until people started knocking on the door of the bakery wanting to buy cheesecake. With that encouragement, I purchased a bakery case and began to conduct retail business. Soon after our cheesecake attracted the press and we were listed in "Best Bites" in New York Magazine. Radio station WOR rated us "Number One Cheesecake" and we appeared on television quite often whipping up batters of cheesecake. Time passed, and now Cleveland Place is in a popular area where the mix of people and restaurants and shops are so unique. Downtown is becoming the "place to be", and we are actually on most maps now. We survived difficult times, and now "let the good times roll"!
