I discovered Zen Palate in 1994. Union circle was a great location. After it closed I kept going to their other 2 locations, and because it's so good, I usually went there every day on my 4-5 day business trips. Scallion pancake, hot and sour soup, mushroom forest, and the occasional autumn roll became my all time favorites. Much recommended.... More

I have been a regular at many of their restaurants since early 2000. My absolute favorite was Zen Palate at Union Square, which unfortunately closed down. No other compared to this one with its design, location and its overall ambiance. However, the food has always been consistently fresh, creative and ambitiously yummy!

Enjoyed a delicious meal here last Gotnight and had peanut basil moo-shu rolls, taro spring rolls, Singapore curried rice noodles and the garden delight–was more than enough for two! All were very tasty. 'tho their sauces could be more interesting... The food came fairly quickly (perhaps an early dinner on a Sunday evening is best). Used a restaurant.com coupon which... More

Walking into the restaurant, being greeted by the staff, taken to one of their great tables, ordering from their incredible vegetarian menu, enjoying the beautiful ambiance while waiting for our meal then to be presented with a beautiful and artistically arranged plate to capture my taste buds. What could be better than that?

I am gluten free and at times i have a really hard time with the "vegetarian duck" and other "vegetarian meat substitutes"..as they are usually gluten based. I find thrie food rather ordinary and not as creative as some. It is a good place for an introduction for people that are new to vegetarian food.

I'm always a fan of their food and a repeat customer. Their food is well prepared, and tastes very good; Rose Pedals is one of my favorites, as is the Sesame Medallions.

The takeout menu says that they were rated the best vegetarian restaurant in New York City. That might have been the case back in the 1990's but a lot of fine vegetarian restaurants have come since then and a few have gone. I have dined in many of them over the past 4 decades and this is not one of... More

Called for a Dinner reservation in the afternoon, and I got scolded for not calling earlier. Found that very strange but went anyways. We got there a few minutes early, told them who we were and that we had a reservation. A man just pointed to a table without saying anything, after we sat he came by and dropped two... More

It is rare to have such an bad experience in NYC. The tofu delight was just unpleasant, and the spring rolls still half frozen. I asked for the check with an almost untouched full plate of food, and got total non caring attitude from the waiter. I used to love this place, it has gone into the gutter
