I'm a super fan of authentic soul food cuisine so when I go into restaurants for soul food. I'm usually skeptic about trying food at new places that I've never dined at before. Melba's trashed my skeptic concerns because the food was really good. I enjoyed everything that I ordered and so did my friends. Another visit is long overdue... More

Ate here recently with family. The food was very good - fried chicken and waffles-outstanding, and the short rib dinner was excellent. I would have loved some cornbread-no bread at all which was disappointing. The onion rings were amazing, but skip the fries- ordinary, at best. The grilled vegetable napoleon appetizer was excellent!. Sadly, service was slow and frustrating. The manager... More

Melba's is a staple in Harlem. Ive been going there for many years and its food has always been consistent. Good to see that she is still there. The bartenders and the waiting staff is attentive and the food come out fresh. A place to eat.

A group of us had dinner here on Sunday night. The restaurant in closed between 3 and 5pm as they take a break between the lunch and dinner service. We arrived just before 5pm and within a few minutes the restaurant was nearly full! We ordered a variety of dishes and were not disappointed- the oxtail fell off the bone,... More

Melba's has a great variety of food, and an excellent dining atmosphere. Whenever I visit NYC I am sure to visit at least once. My favorite food there is the Catfish Nuggets, and the service is consistently fast and friendly.

Wonderful Chicken and waffles, delicious cheese grits and eggs, good salads, good fried chicken. The food has a quaint, homemade feel to the meals. I will come again. Great service, too! We had a great time!

Very unique food here. The waffles are eggnog waffles, and they are excellent. The pancakes are sweet potato pancakes and they are delicious. Everything was good. The service was a little slow, but all in all it was a great experience with excellent food.

I took a group of 54 people to Melba' s Restaurant in Harlem on Sept. 21. 2016 and the food was "Fantastic". I had the Catfish & Waffles with Strawberry Butter. It was to die for. Some had the Shrimp which were hugh & delicious and others the Chicken, Collard Greens and Mac & Cheese. All said it was great.... More

A friend of visiting NYC just happened to be staying in Harlem - across the street from the acclaimed Melba's. USA Southern or Soul food has been a hit & miss for me, mainly misses as Sylvia's (the short-lived Atlanta, GA location) was an expensive disappointment. A popular buffet by the lb/kilo Comfort food place ran by either Africans or... More

The staff is generally very good. The food is some of the best soul food in Harlem World. I think it is now better than Red Rooster, Sylvia's, Amy Ruth's and Charlie's. It is clearly a hidden gem. Moreover , definitely try the catfish appetizer, Fried chicken & waffles, sides of: mac & chesse, candied yams and sweet potato pie.... More
