This is about as good as it gets if you like super fresh, tasty oysters - and a day at the beach. BYOB and enjoy super fresh Kumamotos just steps from the sand. Shuck your own to save a few bucks - it's part of the fun! Prices get crazy cheap if you're buying a bushel. We ordered 4 dozen... More

What a great find...have em raw..or cooked. Shuck them yourself (they lend you the tools) or have them Shuck them for you. These guys have really fresh goods! Don't miss the ceviche with fresh scallops. Bring a nice table cloth or just sit at the wooden tables. You can bring your own beverages..a nice cold sauvignon blanc would be delightful!... More

The Jolly Oyster has both fish market style and restaurant style oysters. At the fish market you can buy as many as you want and shuck them yourself. The restaurant shucks them, cooks them (if you want), and offers many side dishes and sauces. We opted for the fish market as they were cheaper. More oyster for the buck if... More

This is basically a food truck, two now, that is set up in the parking lot of Ventura State Beach. It costs money to enter the park and stay but if you are just doing a grab and go they will give you a ten or fifteen minute free registration. I must warn you however that half the fun is... More

Where can you take a leisurely bike ride from town to San Buenaventura State Park and stop at the local food truck, 'the shuck shack' that only serves fresh, delicious and sustainable oysters and clams! One word, fantastic! The prefect day on the beach in California. A very passionate vendor that happily gives a shucking review and education about these... More

The food was delicious and the server was so helpful, he gave us tasters of each oyster type, showed us how to shuck the oysters and gave us some sauce and lemon to go with them. We brought our own bread and beer - watch out for seagulls! - and then after we ate we watched the sun set at... More

Fresh oysters, prepared seafood, byob. Bike paths. Walk to the ocean for the day. This is a great spot in Ventura to relax and spend time with family and friends.

Great food and service! The location is also excellent, walk over the dunes to Ventura beach. It was near end of day and they were out of a couple of items, but I'd rather it be this way since I know whatever we get it will be fresh. We got a dozen raw, gigantic oysters, with a few acidic sauces... More
