This is one of the few places I will go out of my way to visit again. Stopped in for a chance at finding something a bit different and scored big time. Friendly people, great service and a killer B.L.T sandwich. Sauerkraut was being prepared for Reuben sandwiches, I will return for "The Reuben". There's ice cream, groceries, books and... More

Local culture with lots of character. Our group of five adults and three youth overwhelmed the combination owner/host/cook/coffee tender. Right fit for this place is two or three guests in any given party. Seating consists of three two-up tables in front of main counter/register with a step down to a couple of four-tops in the multi-use reach-in/walk-in cooler/general store/ lower... More

The friendliest mountain man you will ever meet is your host and cook. Homemade jam is great. Omelettes are full of flavor and filling. Prices are very reasonable.

This is really quite an emporium and cafe. You will likely not come across a place with such variety and you won't find a place with a person like Mel. He's full of great stories, philosophy and personality. He also cooks up a good breakfast. This is easy to miss, as it's a bit removed from the road, but be... More

We stumbled upon this trading post on 2nd July. The owners were really friendly and the meal was great. A karaoke evening was in progress with the locals. Wish we had had time to stop as it looked to be fun. Quaint place, we would recommend it to anyone in the area. Good to meet them. Tilly ....

We had been told that the Mountain Man Trading Post was quaint and "down home." Those observations proved to be true. Unfortunately, Mel wanted to tell us about why Arco is a better place to live than Oregon, where we live and where he grew up. He did so repeatedly without paying attention to the food we ordered. I requested... More

I stumbled on Mountain Man while travelling through Arco a few years ago. Mel, the owner, was immediately welcoming from behind the counter. I loved how he cooked everything right in the open! I ordered a buffalo burger and while I waited, he went and poured me a cup of coffee, even though it was self-service. He was so conversational... More
