Homey atmosphere and friendly service. We were excited to dine here after reading the menu. The mushroom pate was tasty but a very small portion. The eggplant caponata was probably the best thing we ate. The timballo was very plain, couldn’t find any roasted peppers...or prosciutto, one egg slice, one meatball slice. A one note dish, add some fresh basil or oregano or parsley. Maybe salt or pepper? The best part of the dish was the tomato sauce, excellent. The chicken dish was a thin slice of chicken and a small bit of pasta. Not much. The pasta with clams was ok. How about using fresh pasta instead of dried out of a box? Would not go back, too bad. Had high hopes. ☹️More

Very homey atmosphere - felt like we were at someone’s house having a great home Cooked meal. Everything was very fresh and homemade. The menu changes weekly so that’s super interesting. The food that we tried was good to excellent: the clam appetizer was good...but not memorable- but the veal chop was outstanding and the potatoes and veg also very very tasty. This is home cooking and as a Mom -I love eating home cooking that someone else makes. The service was so pleasant, knowledgeable and invested in the meal- we loved the vibe and it paired perfectly with the food. Wishes: I wish chef that you would make bread that is a worthy opener to your food. So It needs to be fantastic - It’s the first thing in my mouth when I sit down and it was not good- I’ll leave it at that.More

Never disappoints. Very interesting menu. Just really good, authentic Sicilian dishes, well served. If you haven't tried Ortygia yet, you definitely should.

We dined as a family while visiting my father-in-law. Our son has celiac, so we called ahead to make sure they could accommodate that. They told us to come in at opening to be certain there would be no cross contamination, and they were fantastic!...The chef/owner met with us to review the menu, and checked in with us regularly during our meal. We will certainly dine with them again!More

Bad experience! The food was cold and tasteless. The portions were small. What was one to do with stale bread on the table? There was nothing to spread on it.

What a great find!! Heading back from Crystal River snorkel trip with manatees (see my review!) and at the last minute found Ortygia and were lucky enough to get a reservation!! Whimsical themed, small rooms for intimate feel, and fantastic weekly menu changing food! Started...with Prosecco & Valpolicella, and had pasta of the week and fish soup that was wonderful! Chef came out and sat to talk with us, special treat! Don't miss this Bradenton find!More

It’s a lovely town with wonderful things to do, but Ortygia is reason enough to visit Bradenton. We had two meals here. Both were memorable. Good service. Pleasant ambience. And a devoted local following.

Lovely experience overall. Delicious food prepared and served with pride and care. We felt like we were in someone’s home for dinner. Everyone was friendly and welcoming. Food was delicious and portions were generous. Prices very reasonable. We are going back later this week while...we’re still in town. I highly recommend!!More

We had an early meal at 5:30. Service was efficient. We had Articoke bottoms for an appetizer, and they were delicious. I ordered Timballo. It was good they sliced the meatball, and my serving only had two thin slices. For the price, I would expect...more protein. My wife had pork ribs that she shared, and they were delicious. The dining rooms were originally the front rooms of a small home from the 20's very nice. If you appreciate unique settings with very good food give them a try. We would certainly visit again.More

Pretty awful overall. We went with friends. The menu was fixed. We each ordered something different and every order came with the same undercooked ( and I don’t mean Al dente) pasta. Rigatoni with everything. My plate was nothing but pasta with very little oxtail...sauce. The veal had no flavor and was served barely warm leaving the impression that it had been sitting for some time. I cannot express my disappointment in the menu and the effort that went into the meal. No salad on the menu and a meager serving of bread to start. 6 tiny squares for 6 people. I returned home hungry and made a sandwich. Needless to say, they need to pick up their game!More

We have a small menu, one chef you does all the prepping and all of the cooking every night in the kitchen. First, because of that are menu is limited so we don't always have salad. The menu changes weekly, it is not price fixed....More

Always a good experience at Ortygia. The menu changes weekly and the food is excellent, authentic Sicilian food. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. This restaurant is housed in a quaint bungalow and decorated nicely. There is also an outside garden available for dining. The...owner/chef makes it a point to stop by each table in the course of the dinner. The best way to describe Ortygia is “exceptional food created and served with love”.More
