The menu is ala carte and the prices are very high. The food descriptions are so fancy, you aren't sure what you're getting. My food was tasty but my clam chowder and what I ordered for dinner could have been the same thing with gnocchi dumplings added. They were so similar. I got way more mussels and clams, all in... Their dining room is quite rustic, but also quite elegant. The steak was fabulous and cooked perfectly! Our waiter was super too!

We thoroughly enjoy the authentically rustic ambiance of Captain Whidbey. The Madrona log building is about 100 years old, but seems older. The small bar area known as the "Tavern" is a delightful space with additional seating outside on the terraced decks overlooking Penn Cove. The Tavern features a small but full bar with limited liquor options and a small... More

My husband and I stayed in the inn for two nights for our anniversary celebration. We were early for check-in so decided to have lunch while we waited. We both got the pan fried cod and roasted potatoes with house made garlic tartar. I cannot say enough how delicious and perfectly cooked the fish was - delicate, flaky with a... More

Great food, okay service, fabulous views. Never a bad meal, the menu is fresh, seasonal and mostly local. They have a Tavern or Dining Room, plus dining on the deck weather permitting. Never a bad meal.

The service was good, the food was very good. I really liked the oyster stew and the veal chop special. Unfortunately, if you have mobility problems this may not be the restaurant for you, There is no way for a wheel chair to approach the Inn, as I could see, and the stairs into the restaurant did not have a... We were kindly greeted, yet nothing after a hello....we were the first customers in the restaurant, she just said "tavern or wherever you want to sit" and walked off. We chose the tavern. We dined for lunch and the bartender/server was ok, but acted as if he'd rather be elsewhere. The fresh cod was excellent but the menu indicated roasted... More

Michelle is an excellent server. My wife and I shared the mussels, fresh and good. We drank the broth down to nothing. Steelhead is excellent as is the steak fillet. We recommend the Captain Whidbey Inn restaurant. We aren't stating the night because we already live on Whidbey Island.

I had not visited the Inn for over twenty years. In spite if some negative reviews on Trip Advisor, I decided to try it out for luncheon as they were offering a discount for Whidbey Island residents, which my wife & I have been for over a year. The mussels, clams, crab & salmon were well served, hot and fresh.... More

Nine of us enjoyed a pre arranged meal, with just two choices of entree, salad, etc. In all of that, it took FOREVER for our food to arrive. When it did, it was good, but being the middle of the week, out of season, and a pre-arranged meal, it might be reasonable to expect better service.
