If you don't mind a limited menu and a few specials each week, this is your place for comfort food at a reasonable price. They greet you by name and treat you like an old friend. Try the Schmidter sandwich and the chicken corn chowder is awesome too.

Stopped here for lunch today to have the famous Schmitter sandwich and yes it was delicious. My husband had the Texas Tommy Dog and wow it was something else. This is not a place for vegetarians but the service was spectacular by Mary Louise and Liz. It's nice to be in a city that has little non pretentious places to... More

Tiny bar/pub/restaurant with limited number of tables -- you must try the Schmidtter sandwich! It's a Philly classic. Classic and a great value...old school gem!

Stopped in during lunchtime at this small pub and eatery. There are about a dozen bar seats, and we (my fiance and I), were fortunate to grab up two for ourselves. The steaks are on the high-end of prices, but also larger than most sandwiches that you'll get throughout the city - therefore, I'll call it a split on that... More

We had the Smitter and a Chicken Cheesesteak plus shared some New England Clam chowder and a slice of carrot cake. Everything was home made....and excellent. Great unique take on the Philly Cheesesteak. The Smitter Saue is really good....only downfall is that it is very small inside...don't bring a gang along...great for a date or you and one or two... Came upon this tavern by accident, but what a find! It is located on a quaint, bustling street with many places to shop. So after eating their great food, you can walk off your meal! They are known for the Schmitter sandwich, an excellent, best I have ever had cheesesteak, topped with grilled salami and their special Schmitter sauce. The... More

I've been going to this wonderful pub for decades, and the best part is it doesn't change. The world famous Schmitter is as good as ever, the beer selection is wonderful, and the ambience ... Well just go and see for yourself.

Our entire group of 6 people ordered their cheese steak subs and they were absolutely delicious! The room was a bit loud, but we were able to yell above them all to hear our conversation.
