Had a very good cheesesteak, recomended by the hotel as the place the locals go to eat. Was good ordered the food downstairs then ate upstairs. Even had a Budweiser with the cheesesteak!

Yes, any TV show you watch talks about the rivalry between Pat and Genos. Having lived in and around Philly for over 16 years, I can say without hesitation that Jims is, by a long shot, the absolute best. Yes, you will wait in line for a cheesesteak, they only take cash, and it is a small place, but the... More

Great cheesesteak. The lines tell it all. They only had steak. Options were mushroom, pepper, and cheesesteaks.

Best Philly Cheesesteaks, particularly when ordered with Cheese Whiz. The finely chopped meat and fresh rolls make this a melt in your mouth treat. After a comparison test with the others, you will choose Jim's, too.

There are two better known steak sandwich places in Philly. This was closer so my wife and I stopped in for lunch. There was a 10 minute wait in line to get to the order location. I must admit that I was nervous I wouldn't know what to say. The cooks were yelling and having a good time, but there... More

We visited Jim's on a Saturday afternoon for lunch. When you walk in, you get in line then place your order. There is seat yourself seating upstairs but it was packed so we just left. A little pricey but very tasty. It's more of a torpedo type sub bc it's a thinner bread. Worth the try!

Amazing Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich with everything and Cheese Wiz washed down with a couple of Yuenglings. A true highlight in Philly. I tried three other Philly Cheesesteaks on my visit,....Jim's the best, hands down. Good job by the team Captain Eric, good to see a guy putting his FSU grad work to practice!

In Philly for the day; made a point to get to Jim's for lunch. Long line, friendly cook, place has character. But, I found the steak bland, was disappointed they wouldn't grill the peppers. I have had better steaks at various venues in L.A., where I live.

The staff here are great, the steak subs are fresh and not too greasy. Don't forget your cash, it's cash only!

Don't be deterred by long lines, but bring cash. Great Philly steak made to order. Seating upstairs, no handicap assessability seen. Very good eats!

Thank Adele A

THIS IS HOW IT'S DONE! In the summer of 1976, my father and a business partner opened Jim's Steaks South St., Bringing a unique art-deco storefront and an even more distinctive cheesesteak to a neighborhood in the midst of a renaissance. Few would have predicted that over the course of nearly four decades the shop would become one of the most celebrated restaurants in Philadelphia. You'll find us on what's known as the "Hippest Street in Town," serving up the finest cheesesteaks and hoagies from the heart of the city that made them famous. Five-time winner of Philadelphia Magazine's "Best of Philly" award and Zagat rated, Jim's is your 'must-have' cheesesteak when only the BEST will do. With well over 200 years of cheesesteak-making knowhow, our staff will make you glad you stopped in each and every time you visit. Whether you're a Philly native or a conventioneer, touring the city's incredible history and museums or just passing through, you'll know you're getting the real Philly cheesesteak experience when you walk through our door. Ask anyone who has tasted our sandwiches! We can't wait to show you how it's done. Our best, Ken Silver Second Generation Proprietor Jim's Steaks South St.
