We went to Osteria for lunch with a Smithsonian tour. Normally, I am a soup and half a sandwich person at that hour, but I was thrilled with our lunch of sauteed fish and vegetables. The sea bass was simply prepared -- perfection! I'd love to return.

640 North Broad St. Philadelphia PA 19130, (215) 763-0920, 4.5 stars, expensive but fantastic Italian restaurant, maybe the best Italian meal ever, great atmosphere, superior service, chef set up a large round table near ours and he dined with friends late into the evening, very cool place, felt like a real dining experience, cannot recommend this place enough

Osteria has been on my to try list for quite some time, so I'm happy we were able to come for my birthday. Service was great, not overbearing but very attentive and she was knowledgable about the specials of the day. 2 cocktails a beer, pizza, appetizer, entree and small pasta dish will run you rougly $135 pre-tip but as... We lived in the neighborhood, so we went there pretty frequently. The food was excellent every time we went there. Chicken liver pasta is a must-order item on the menu. We missed the truffle pasta the most, however, you can only get that couple weeks a year.

Ate with a group of seven here for dinner. The best aspect of the experience was the service, which was top-notch. The food was good, but the pizza was not quite like pizza I've had during several trips to Italy, which was a little disappointing. I don't know if they didn't use San Marzano tomatoes or maybe it had to... More

I have eaten at Osteria a number of times for both lunch and dinner. The food has always been of the highest quality. It has been always fresh and well prepared. And they have a wide variety of dishes, from vegetable plates to small pizzas, to rabbit casalinga and pork shank. The setting is modern with a lot of wood... More

Excellent from beginning to end. I called to ask about gluten-free dining and the hostess was helpful and patient. Our server was great - very helpful, great personality. The steak tartare was the best I've ever had (even without bread). Rabbit with soft polenta was also delicious. The sommelier was very helpful - he chose a great wine for us.... More

I've been reading the reviews of this restaurant, and a lot of them are saying that the food is mediocre, and I have to disagree! Some of the best, and obviously fresh pasta/pizza doughs I have had I my life. Worth the cost which honestly was not very high (146 for two entrees, a pizza, and a 72 dollar bottle... More

We booked a table on the reputation of Vetri's pasta and it turned out to be a lesson in how the experience can make or break a meal. From a petty table wobble to a buss staff that routinely interrupted conversation to ask us to move so they could take our plates, the cadence of the meal was choppy. Unfortunately,... More

"The second restaurant to join the Vetri Family fold, Osteria, as its name would imply, draws its inspiration from traditional osterias found in Northern Italy, and is the realization of a dream Vetri Family partners Jeff Benjamin and Chefs Marc Vetri and Jeff Michaud had while standing amongst the grapes of the Ca'Marcanda vineyards in Tuscany. Since opening in 2007, Osteria has become one of the country's most critically acclaimed Italian restaurants, receiving a 3-out-of-4 bell review from the Philadelphia Inquirer, and earning Chef Michaud the 2010 James Beard Foundation Award for ""Best Chef: Mid-Atlantic"" for his work helming the kitchen."
