When I used to go to Koch's when I was in college, there was typically an hourlong wait, made shorter by their practice of passing around free samples of whatever they were slicing. Sadly, Lou and Bobby Koch both died young and the deli is no longer in family hands. It still has the best hoagies around, now thankfully without... More

Two things to start: 1)Don't judge a book by it's cover here 2)This is a take-out deli, no seating inside. Now that all of that is out of the way, the Hot Pastrami sandwich was absolutely delicious. I would make a point to come back here and get this again. Enough said!

This is a take-out deli with an eccentric proprietor, but the food was great. Real deli and real deli portions. The proprietor gave waiting patrons pickle slices and tastes of garlic cheddar while we waited and kept us entertained. The food was worth the wait. I'm definitely planning my next visit.

My son in law brought back amazing sandwiches. I had the chicken salad sandwich which was fantastic and huge. Would love to get sandwiches there again!

I visit Koch's every week. Depending on where you're coming from, the sandwiches can be a little pricey--the specials average $12.75--but the portions are very sizable. The people behind the counter will provide you with samples of meat and cheese while you wait for your order. If you are staying in University City (or West Philadelphia), then you should check... Used to be that, if you were in U City and wanted a big, overstuffed, classic deli sandwich, served up with constant high-spirited chatter from the guys behind the counter, you went to Koch's. Didn't mind the wait or the somewhat high price; the sandwiches were delicious, sometimes enough for two to share. But the place needs some TLC. It's... More

I attended Penn over 20 years ago. Koch's was THE place to get a hoagie at that time. Came back with my son for him to visit the school. Thought we would check out the old place. Still as I remember it. Hole-in-the-wall but NO place better to get a hoagie or cheese steak. My son's one word review of... More

I was at work and wanted some deli sandwich and sure didn't want Subway. So I used trip advisor to find local spots and Koch's came up. Wow I had the best Hot corn beef special probably ever. There is a sign that says "Little bit of bread with a lot of meat" this should be there motto I could... More

This is still a great place to get food. But, I miss the good old days. The father and mother, Sid and Francis, still worked the counter when I came here in 1982 for my first sandwich. Sid made me my first sandwich. Schmaltzy jokes, learning everyone's name, free samples passed out while you wait made this my "Cheers" (..... More
