A fun spot with both indoor and outdoor seating. Too cold for us to be outside but we will come and enjoy the outdoor ambiance by the marina/sea next time. Location is really what this place is all about.

We love to sit on the patio and have a drink, meal, and watch the ferry go by as well as many cargo ships and even an occasional cruise ship! The food and service are always excellent! They often have buffets which are outstanding! I even own a few of their t-shirts! I can't wait until they get their docks... More

We stopped here after a ride over on the ferry. Friendly greeter and nice waitress. We chose outdoor seating and so glad we did. We watched the ferry and tugs go by. My husband ordered the redfish sandwich and I ordered the cashew grouper. We had broccoli and sweet potato fries. Both were excellent. Will definitely go back when we... More

This restaurant has a great and scenic location, so if the weather is nice insist on waiting for an outdoor table. The inside is very dated and the chairs looked like something from the 1970's. Speaking of waiting they are very popular so go early if you do t plan to wait. The parking lot is also very tight. Although... More

We were not pleased with the portion of grouper my wife received. I ordered the choice of 2 and received 2 nice pieces of fish for the same price as my wife's one small piece of grouper. When we questioned the portions we were told it was by weight! My wife's one piece should have been twice the size of... More

While visiting the north side of the St Johns River (Heckscher drive), on your way to Talbot Island, Amelia Island or Fernandina, you will find Heckscher drive ...void of any restaurants. So when you near the ferry crossing you will be pleasantly surprised at this "food oasis" . The Sandollar has great seating (inside and outside) that gives a visitor... More

We just finished touring Kingsley Plantation/Fort Caroline, and were hungry. The Sandollar appeared like an oasis. We thought for sure we would have to drive further into "civilization" to find lunch. We were greeted with a smile and seated quickly. The view was great. Our orders were taken promptly and served without delay. We had the salad with chicken strips... More

First visit to the Sand Dollar. We split the fish tacos & Caesar salad. Perfect for two people. The fish tacos are to die for. The salad was very flavorful. Price us very reasonable. Will definitely cone back.

While driving around, exploring the area south of Fernandina Beach, we passed Sandollar Restaurant and Marina. The charm of the restaurant's facade and location by A1A caused everyone in the car to remark, "That looks like a good place to eat!". We U-turned and entered their parking lot. The lot was 50% full on a Wednesday afternoon at 1:00 PM.... More

Description
The Sandollar was originally built in 1954 by a gentleman who lived in Fort George Island. This small but capable restaurant was able to capitalize on the booming American shrimp market from Mayport across the river. The business thrived and created the tradition of serving fresh and local seafood at low costs. This was when Heckscher Drive still had bridges that were made of wood and moved with the tide. After a while, the area demanded a larger facility and in 1988, a new building was constructed by Dwayne Williams, who owned La Cruise Casino and Restaurant in Mayport. He kept the tradition of providing customers with fresh, quality seafood at a low price.

Today, under that same direction from the original owner, we look forward to bringing back the same great seafood that The Sandollar brought in when it opened. We are proud to be serving our local community for over 15 years now and will continue to give back and assure our locals that the next decade will provide the same great service, incredible food, and innovation that we are known for.
