Had read bad reviews on Trip Advisor, so almost didn't stop in while at Davis Mts. Park. Had friendly, good service and tasty, generous, freshly made sandwiches for lunch. Only bad part was having to make a choice of one item.

The convenience of the restaurant to the Indian Lodge is why we ate here several times on our trip. The service is slow as they are clearly under staffed. Many times the tables were not cleared of dirty dishes from the previous diner. Breakfast is your best option and even then it is just okay. Dinner was usually like warm... More

The Black Bear is located inside of Davis Mountain State Park. Whether camping or a day visit this is a good stop. I had a 6oz cheese burger with fries and tea. The burger was a hand shaped patty and fried on a griddle. It was served open faced with veggies and condiments on the side. It was tasty and... More

We had low expectations for our dinner but we were pleasantly surprised. The food and service were both good and it was pretty cheap. This is not fine dining but it is pretty good for a state park restaurant.

Dry inedible chicken, at least it may have been chicken; dry greasy shredded beef; canned pork and beans; carrots with so much brown sugar on them that they tasted like bad candy; butter left at room temp so long it was nearly melted, curdled soup held not nearly hot enough so probably was a cauldron of bacteria; desserts with whipped... The Breakfast French Toast is amazing!!! I was really disappointed with the Surf and Turf dinner $23 steak was OK and shrimp was horrible. The salad bar hardly had any vegetables for salad and ranch dressing was empty. Dinner service and food was horrible!! We ordered fried pickles as an appetizer and it was supposed to come with ranch. When... More

We ate here after we arrived at the park. The restaurant was not busy at all (two other tables were occupied). The waitress was friendly. There was a decent selection on the menu, and the prices were reasonable for being in a remote location. The tables and chairs were pretty neat looking, and the place had nice atmosphere, like a... Years ago we ate at Black Bear at Indian Lodge and had a good experience. Our last visit was a disaster. They were obviously running out of food which was poorly prepared and overcooked. But the "coup de gras" was a vegetable I could not identify which turned out to be steamed radish. It was Sunday pm and I guess... More

My family and I come here every year and we eat almost every meal at The Black Bear! We always have great food and great service. I love the CCC sandwich for lunch and the pancakes for breakfast.

Dinner was absolutely terrible! Chicken was served very charred and burned. The vegetable dish was old and tasted awful. Even the hamburgers were bad! They either had no seasoning or they were very over-salted. Waste of $!
