The area is very quaint and you could probably spend sometime walking around during the day. For this reason, parking is quite painful! We did have to drive around for about 15 minutes before street parking opened up. Fortunately, it was a pleasant evening, so the walk to the restaurant was nice. Upon opening the door to Mama's, you are... More

We live about an hour away from Baltimore so really aren't that familiar with where to go. We had an opportunity to meet up with a distant cousin who was in town for a conference so we picked Mama's on the Half Shell based on other reviews here on TA and crossed our fingers for good results. Happy to say... More

First time visitor decided to stop in canton on our way home from Baltimore for a bite to eat. Delicious oysters, crab cakes, and the monkfish special was amazing. Highly recommend this place.

Food quality medium at best. Salad so old that had so many black parts, inedible. Wife expensive for the quality. Would suggest to choose somewhere else

We went to Mama's for lunch on a rainy Saturday. It's a good thing we had reservations! Even though the restaurant was packed our service was excellent and the food was superb. This is a small place in Canton just off the waterfront. The neighborhood is working on being trendy and doing a good job of it.

Wonderful place to stop with a group. The weather was great so we ate outside and it was great. The service was good with attention to detail. The oysters were amazing! The seafood was fresh and tasty. Would recommend for intimate dining and getting together with friends you haven't seen in a while.

Friends had told me about Mama's so after a visit to Johns Hopkins Bayview, my husband & I decided to go to Mama's for lunch. (About 10 minutes away) we shared the oysters Rockefeller. They were delicious. Very tasty but was expecting oysters to be a bit larger. We then each had the oyster stew. Not at all disappointing. Lots... More

Three couples went to celebrate a birthday. The service was good. It was the end of the evening. The food was just ok. We are foodies and the flavors were just mediocre. We wouldn't necessarily return

In 2003, we opened Mama's on the Half Shell. Our opening day was the realization of five years of dreaming, discussing and collecting. As native "Baltimoreans," we felt Baltimore lacked a real seafood restaurant. Because of our love for the restaurant business, our favorite pastime is to dine out, but we struggled to find the real taste of Baltimore seafood. We missed the classics, the ones that we could count on as kids, such as Connely's & Hausner's, the one we would visit with friends from out of town who say "take us to a real Baltimore seafood house." We missed that and wanted to bring it back. That's why we created Mama's on the Half Shell. Our menu is the most important part of our restaurant, but we also want our guests to come in and feel comfortable for any occasion: bringing in a client, Sunday football, a birthday, anniversary or just some time out. It's a great place to visit after a day on the water and it's also remembered by some as the place where they got engaged. Our restaurant is a place that you could "bring it or bring it down." There is really no average age at Mama's on the Half Shell which leads us to believe this truly is a Baltimore classic for food and celebration. For a good start to a classic Baltimore meal at Mama's, order a fried crab cake with mustard and our famous Orange Crush. Have a seat at the raw bar and just drift back into your best Baltimore memory, hon! It is our hope that when you are with us you feel you are welcomed into our home with open arms.
