My wife and I enjoyed this restaurant very much. I really enjoyed the look of the place in the main dining area. It looked like something out of an old time movie. All of the wood booths with a spot for curtains and non working...More

We were seated in one of the cozy booths in the main dining room. We had excellent service. Our server was very helpful. Sampled the fried green tomatoes, lamb sandwich, and pimento cheese burger. Everything was wonderful. Can't wait to go back!!

I sure hate to see places like this torn down for a strip mall and parking lot. Very sad. This place started in 1924 as a BBQ shack and by 1936 it's what you see before you today. The round design was influenced by the...More

I had the chicken pecan salad. Delicious! It was exactly as Brennan, our server, described...chicken salad surrounded by fruit. Food, service, and atmosphere were all excellent.

The atmosphere makes me think about a time when folks danced in the ball room. The food is wonderful ! Dining offers a dining room , bar, and cafe style.

Stopped in for lunch and only grabbed a few burgers but the service and the burgers were very good. We were running a little late for a tee time so the waiter, Eric did a great job of getting us served quickly. We'll give it...More

Came into town and this was the first sit down place we came to. Great atmosphere. I enjoyed looking at the framed autographed menus. The shrimp jambalaya was zesty (spicy, but not hot) and tasty, though the tomato sauce slightly overpowered the shrimp. Good sized lunch portion....More

If you're visiting Savannah, check this restaurant out before it's too late. It appears it will be demolished for a shopping center/housing comples unless fate steps in. This restaurant is a Savannah icon that first began as a Bar-que shack in 1924, not far from...More

Had our thanksgiving dinner here. Way overpriced! Lousy food. Charged $1 extra for a tossed salad. No mention of this by the waiter or on the menu. Very disappointed. Would not recommend this place when there are so many other wonderful places to eat in...More

Description
For over 90 years, Johnny Harris Restaurant has been a staple of Historic Savannah dining. Three public dining rooms: the "Kitchen", the "Ballroom" with high starlit ceiling, and the Maple Room Tavern all provide an eclectic atmosphere for your dining enjoyment. The signature BBQ sauces are a great compliment to the famous pit-smoked items, and the secret recipe fried chicken is not to be missed. Family ownership gives this restaurant an intimate feel despite it's size, and the restaurant cookbook, penned by Julie D. Lowenthal, is a must take home keepsake. Private dining room bookings are available as well as adjacent banquet facilities with seating up to 200.
