You always know what to expect at Gustav's. German cuisine can be a bit heavy, so come hungry. Been here with family and friends. Nice atmosphere. In the warmer seasons there is outside seating.

We gave this restaurant another try since our first visit in 2013 was underwhelming. However, most of the recent reviews were very positive and we really wanted some German food. We ate in the bar area, which is very small, but worked for us. Lots of families with kids on this Sunday evening, but they appeared to be taken care... More

Food here feels absolutely authentic. Ordered the spätzle Alfredo with chicken schnitzel and barely had room to finish it due to the bread and pretzel fondue. Dessert was apple strudel a la mode. Service was first class and friendly. Check was cheaper than other German restaurants I've eaten in. Definitely worth your time.

Had dinner last night with about 20 friends - our kids swim on the same team. Gustav's is one of the few places around here that is willing to accommodate a large group on a Saturday evening. They placed us in an isolated area, which was very nice for us, and we spent the next 2 1/2 hours laughing and... More

We have been to Gustav's many times for family gatherings as well as with friends. We find the food to be consistently good and moderately priced for an informal restaurant with lots of atmosphere. There is a wide variety of food on the menu as well as popular selections for children. Good variety of beverages including wine, cocktails, craft beer and... More

We've eaten at other Gustav's locations and always have a great meal the Vancouver location is another home run. We ordered the crab fondue (good) but probably not worth the extra over the traditional fondue, French Onion Soup (probably the best I've ever eaten) hubby had schnitzel, I had an appetizer portion of shepherd's pie with blackberry hard cider to... Stopped in here while visiting a friend, and it happened to be in October. The Paulaner Oktoberfest Marzen beer was very tasty, and paired well with the pork schnitzel, mashed potatoes and green beans. A very authentic and satisfying experience. I will definitely come back and explore the menu and beer selections. Very good.

The food here is spectacular. We had some sausage with mustard sauce, Pretzel and Fondue, and Hungarian Chicken Jäger. A good amount of food that didn't make you regret your food life choices.

Everyone in this restaurant is warm and friendly. It was a cold rainy night when we visited and the place was full. After a very short 5 minute wait we were seated. The atmosphere was cozy with lots of good smells. My husband and son got a sausage plate and particularly loved the wild boar sausage(the platter let you pick... More

Using my three equally weighted factors of ambience, service, and food quality, Gustav's easily rates top marks on all three. The ambience is fun: flags from the German states, sculptures and paintings from German history, brightly colored fixtures. This is a happy place. And our server smiled and worked hard to ensure our positive experience. Food quality was impeccable. My... More
