Discovered Tabare a few years ago and have regularly returned even from across the river. The food warrants it - octopus casserole, steak sandwich (loaded with everything you could possibly imagine), chimicurri skirt steak and the chicken milanese with mustard are delectable, and happy hour (5-7, i think every day, if not just weekends) makes dinner for two here AFFORDABLE.... Went with friends from Uruguay on an ice cold Saturday night early February. Had a fabulous meal and good time. Very cosy, unpretentious atmosphere. Fast & friendly service. Food superb. Three dishes: cheesy entre, pasta as main and serious chocolate cake for desert. Straight forward food but when done with heart and skill, excellent for taste buds and belly. Three... More

So I have been coming to Tabare for a few years now. I recently went and it was exactly as I remembered. Let's just say having a father who is Uruguayan I almost never order steak when going to a restaurant but omg they sure know how to cook skirt steak and the chimichurri is soo awesome. I also love... My friend and I were in NYC on business and hopped over to Brooklyn for a change of scenery. We stumbled upon Tabare, and we were so happy we did! We sat at the bar and were only going to have a drink or two plus an appetizer while we waited for another friend to transition to dinner. Since it... More

You know, if you find yourself walking by and just happen I to this place, you'll have an extremely pleasant time--more so than my rating might suggest. The atmosphere is cosy and quite charming without being to antique-y or Brooklyn dirty. The food was a little uneven but not in a terrible way. The empanadas and sweet potato soup was... More

The prices are reasonable and the portions large. I had a special, a cheese omelet wtih radish greens with a side of potatoes and small salad greens for $9. It was delicious. For happy hour, the cocktails were $6 and I had a wonderful Mezcal cocktail. The other's in our party had the price-fixe brunch for $17 which included coffee,... More

It s a small restaurant with lots of charm. The food is great. There are a variety of cocktails and you should try them all. If you come between the hours of 5-7pm - its happy hour, buy one drink get the second one free. The service is great. Loved it.

I decided to check out a different restaurant in Williamsburg and we found this great place with a uruguayan kitchen. The atmosphere is very cozy and warm with nice music in the background. The service is very friendly and quick. I've ordered the Chivito Completo which was super tasty combined with a fresh Mimosa. I highly recommend this restaurant.
