While we have eaten lots of Middle Eastern food before, never food from Yemen. This is a lovely cafe with a friendly staff and terrific food. Reasonably priced, as well. Don't miss the lamb. Soup and bread are both delicious.

This place is quite something!! Fresh food, delicious fresh water served ice cold in chilled silver glasses (great on a hot summer day) . . . authentic Middle Eastern cuisine! When you walk in you are met with the smell of delicious spices, freshly baked clay oven bread, and a special kind of homemade tea that is unique to Yemen.... More

Authentic Yemeni food. Don't be put off by the no-frills décor. Friendly staff, boisterous atmosphere (at least on a Saturday night when we went). And the food! They start you off with marag, a wonderful lamb broth (and I don't even like lamb) and clay oven baked Yemeni flatbread that resembles a naan. You'll want to eat every bite of... More

On a cold, windy day we were greeted with a complimentary cup of delicious hot soup and warm brick oven bread. This was a great start to a return lunch visit to this family owned restaurant in Brooklyn Heights Arab section. .In addition to Yemeni specialties a few traditional Middle Eastern dishes are also available. We are still exploring Yemen... More

Where do I start? First the atmosphere is welcoming and friendly. The staff goes out of its way to explain the different foods. The other diners were mostly Yemeni natives, but they made us feel like part of the family. I am used to grape leaves and hommus as Arabic food, so this was a giant change. Yes the ingredients... Eating here is the closest you will get to being transported to an eating house in the souks of Yemen. The majority of the visitors are from the middle-east, many of the women dressed in hijabs. I thought that we may be made to feel uncomfortable, but this was no the case and the staff were immensely warm and welcoming... More

The Yemen Cafe is located in the midst of one of the international communities in Brooklyn. You can find cuisine all over the world, but I'd be shocked if there is any better than here. The lamb is truly fall-of-the-bone tender, and the chicken is juicy and spiced to perfection. Every sense takes you on a trip to Yemen, from... More
