After searching the Internet for a diner in Red Hook, Brooklyn, I chose Hope and Anchor. I went on a Saturday night and was totally taken a back. It was a very dark room with some tables, a long bar, and karaoke. I ordered clam chowder soup, turkey sandwich and vegetable pot pie for takeout. The pot pie was great,... More

Friday and Saturday nights are usually karaoke night at Hope and Anchor. In this cozy, intimate diner, you can nosh on fried macaroni and cheese balls or potato skins and sing to your hearts delight. It's a small place, so you are likely to get a chance to sing a few times. The hosts are accepting and encouraging. The waitstaff... More

We're regulars at Hope & Anchor, either enjoying the all-day breakfast specials (the breakfast burrito is a favorite) as well as the hamburger and club sandwich.

There aren't many restaurants in Red Hook, Brooklyn. Hope and Anchor is a combination of art promotion and restaurant. There are rotating works of art displayed while you eat good food. They have a moderate number of selections and you can have a snack, desert, drink or meal here in a relaxed atmosphere. It's child friendly provided the children are... More

In my many years and travels I've eaten many fries and burgers, Bareburger and Brgr are good, but sometimes you just want delicious without the bells and whistles. The Red Hook burger at Hope & Anchor is exquisite. The Fries are REALLY fries, Every single one is crispy on the outside tender on the inside and tastes like potatoes. The... More

Very neighborhood. Very Red Hook. Packed for weekend brunches. Always solidly good food, and not at chi chi prices. The karaoke fri and sat night event is always fun. During the week, locals hang out, read the paper, and watch out the large front window for the action on Van Brunt. Anyplace that can stick through Hurricane Sandy and still... More

We had a Sunday brunch here and were pleasantly surprised. The layout is 1950's diner; certainly clean but somewhat dated. The food, however, was very good. I had the french toast with a side of bacon and my wife had a mixed omelette and both of us walked away happy campers. The french toast was cooked through and was delicious.... More
