Very warm and cozy space. Reminded me of my favorite tavern my parents would take me to for fish on Fridays. Bartender was kind of quiet and made us feel like we were being a burden by sitting at the bar. Appetizers were above average for a bar but the bartender kind of ruined it.

On a recent business trip to Madison, Wisconsin, my wife and I were bound and determined to find a really good Friday fish fry. I realize that there are many possible choices for a good fish fry when one visits the state of Wisconsin, but if one is not a native (and not super-familiar with a particular area)… finding a... Laurel's burger baskets are some of the best in the city. It's a place with lots of local flavor and convenient parking. Service is usually great. The "board" always lists a daily soup and a sandwich of the day. Super-delicious onion rings and be sure to request a side of the secret sauce for your burger and rings!

Not fancy but a great place to have a quick meal (or not so quick as they don't rush you). Burgers are great and the price is very good. Fish fry is also very good. Good selection of both drinks and food. What more could you want?

After not having dined here for several years, we wanted to try our old "haunt" again while visiting town. It was a busy night and they were out of both the clam chowder and the baked cod, but the fried perch and cod were excellent. Side salad is always a nice option and though there is no designated kids menu,... More

My husband and I were driving back home from The Dells on Labor Day and had Coupons, so we decided to give it a try. As someone noted, the atmosphere is a lot like Cheers. Several neighborhood regulars sat at the bar and some picking up food. There were 4 large screen TV's turned to sports and news. Also, a... More

We went to this out of the way tavern because of a coupon and we are glad we did. It was Saturday and the special was a huge, melt in your mouth prime rib dinner. The salad was even impressive with great veggies. Their beer selection was also very good. A great neighborhood tavern. We will go back.

I have heard wonderful things about Laurel Tavern but at 7pm on a Tuesday they had no hamburgers and had run out of plates. I ordered a beer and brat and she forgot the beer. Service was very slow. Seems like it could be a fun place but there are lots of good places in Madison.

The service at the bar was terrible. We felt like we were a major inconvenience to them-at least two or three bartenders passed us by. Dining area very crowded/cramped. Server was okay. The server did not check in on us during the meal period, only checked back to set the bill down.

We came for the Friday fish fry and it is one of the best. We had fried walleye. They also had baked or fried cod. Very busy place. We had a short wait at the bar. Efficient and friendly staff fly around but make sure everyone's happy. Nice salad and potato choices. Bun could've been better.....was on dry side.
