I usually order something other than fish in the midwest; however, the restaurant featured a smoked sturgeon with breaded oysters on spinach. Sounded inventive and it was outstanding. We lingered over great starters and enjoyed the view of the Capitol building at night. Because of a group that ordered their expresso drinks just before us, we were comped a medly... More

I expect more from a restaurant that charges $45+ for entrees. Decor is white table cloth in a large atrium just across from the Wisconsin state capitol. At the entrance there is a map showing the Wisconsin suppliers of the restaurant. Our group received an overblown speech about the quality of ingredients from the waiter when we could have read... L'Etoile continues as Madison's finest restaurant by constantly evolving its menu. In the summer months, dining choices feature the finest and freshest ingredients from the twice weekly Farmers' Market, just steps from the restaurant. The best of Wisconsin's cheeses are offered throughout the year.

Outstanding food and service but not inexpensive at $350.00 for two. That involved sharing 2 of 4 courses and each with the 3 glass wine flight.

We drove through Madison on our way home to Michigan and decided to try L'Etoile. We have special dietary restrictions and L'Etoile was happy to work with us. We had 3 courses and no dessert or wine - the bill came to $180 with tip, pretty much what one expects to pay at a top (but unstarred) restaurant. My husband... More

For first-class dining in Madison - and maybe Wisconsin - L'Etoile is simply the best. We're from Milwaukee, and have dined at all of the best restaurants there, but for our 5-year anniversary, we chose L'Etoile because we knew the combination of food and service cannot be beat. It is not a French resaurant per se, so don't be thrown... More

Madison is a foodie town and L'Etoile is the crown jewel. If you are willing to pay for it, you could go here and have the best meal of your life. You can order anything on the menu and it will be yummy, even if it's something you don't normally order or even like. If you're not in to putting... More

My friends in Madison claimed that their small city has more restaurants per capita than anywhere else in North America. Interesting, but places like Dallas have a lot of restaurants, and that doesn't necessarily convert to quality. I said nothing, but I wasn't expecting three Michelin stars on my first visit to the capitol of Wisconsin. OK, I stand corrected.... More

My wife and I had dinner at L'Etoile on a recent trip to Madison. The food was wonderful and the service top notch. They take advantage of the local agricultural products for the food they serve so everything is very fresh. Is it pricey? Yes, but worth the price. The only thing we did not like about the restaurant were... More

One of the best meals I have ever had. The food was exceptional and the staff helpful and friendly. They have a wine course with every dish so that was a nice treat to taste different wines as well. I had the Prosciutto with Melon infused with Kimche juice, then the Corn Chowder followed by the Grouper with Cajun Shrimp.... More
