Can't make up your mind? You get a choice of various soups, salads & quiche for $9.99. Wonderful meal. I have to take the lemon tarts home because I'm so satiated. My husband had the Vroque Monsieur (ham & cheese sandwich). He could only eat half.

"It's just an apple turnover." That's what I thought before I bit into the flaky, crispy, delicate pastry and perfectly cooked and spiced apples. Delicious. The coffee wasn't anything great but who cares? Excellent.

I so wish this restaurant was still on Jackson Square, but after Katrina it moved out to the end of St Charles at Carrollton. I absolutely love the French country breakfast with the potato galette(YUM ). Nice Saturday morning treat to catch the streetcar and enjoy the ride through the homes of "yesterday ". While you are awaiting your breakfast... More

My wife and I had lunch here during our recent New Orleans visit. You order and pay, then take a seat to await your food. My wife got the Shrimp Florentine Crepe, and I got the café sampler (cup of lentil soup, small Caesar salad, piece of quiche). The total for our lunch came to $23.79, which is not bad... More

Rather go here then paneras. The french style pastries a good as are the varioue plates. It's semi cafeteria style with your order brought to the table.

Riding around looking for a place to have breakfast after church. Saw a bunch of police motor cycles outside and thought if they frequent the place it must be pretty good. To my surprise it was amazing. It was small, but had room for a lot of people there to enjoy breakfast. It was like a big kitchen and Mama... More

Hopped off the trolley to stop for lunch, and we were not disappointed. Interesting menu with loads of choices!

We love the Quiche Lorraine and we each had a mini-tart (lemon & fruit) which was fresh and good. Staff was friendly.

La Madeleine is a casual place for a breakfast or lunch. My husband and I passed this restaurant several times on the St. Charles trolley and decided to try it for breakfast. We both ordered French toast and were surprised when we received our plates that it wasn't actually toast but more like a cinnamon bun. Incredibly sweet, but we... More

I ate at this restaurant for lunch with my husband and two teen daughters. The quality of the food was delicious, and the atmosphere was very nice. I would have preferred table service (you order at a counter and carry your food to a table on a tray), but it was worth the small compromise...food was amazing and it was... More

Staying in Uptown / Carrollton

Neighbourhood Profile
Uptown / Carrollton
Very much their own self sufficient unit within the greater metro area, Uptown and Carrollton tone down the urban edge with a friendly attitude and collegiate feel. Home to Tulane and Loyola Universities, all the students living in the area ensure that Uptown and Carrollton stay youthful, cosmopolitan and vibrantly fun. Two of the liveliest thoroughfares for nightlife and socializing (and yes of course more of the city’s outstandingly good food and live music) are Oak Street and Maple Street. For a truly wild time, the expansive acreage of Audubon Park, with its zoo, golf course, and actual patches of swampy wetlands, means peace and quiet are never too far away.
