This is a high quality bar with excellent cocktails and beer on tap. The seating and bar top rotate around the servers.

My husband & I found the Carousel Bar on a website for a self-guided bar crawl. It was a neat experience for a number of reasons, the Carousel Bar is inside of the Monteleone Hotel, so we would likely not have just wandered in on our own. The bar is decorated as an ornate carousel & the seats collectively rotate... More

Old carousel is the framework for a (slowly) revolving bar in the hotel. Service a bit slow but excellent drinks and decent prices.

Such a wonderful experience drinking cocktails at the Monteleone Hotel Carousel Bar on the ground floor! This bar is in great demand, so go early and be patient for a seat. The bartenders were very friendly and very talented. Well worth the time to visit a unique bar and drink great cocktails!!!

I've walked in this place a few times. Limited seating at the carousel so sit nearby and a server will be with you shortly. Big comfy chairs and couches. Good mix of people. Delicious cocktails.

This is a classic New Orleans lounge in the Hotel Monteleone but we never once were able to sit at the famous Carousel revolving bar. The place is jammed packed from morning until closing. Service is very slow. The bar is known for a signature drink first mixed there in the 1930"s called a Vieux Carre. It is very good... More

The Carousel Bar is an iconic staple in New Orleans. We have stayed at the Monteleon twice and the carousel Bar in the lobby area stays packed from the time it opens until they close down. Get there early if you want a seat on the bar as it slowly spins around. The bartenders here are really great and a... More

On our recent trip to NOLA, the Carousel Bar at the Hotel Monteleone was definitely on our list. We arrived right at 11:00 am when it opened to make sure we got a seat. Within 5 minutes, the bar was filled. We went for a quick bite to eat and a drink. We shared a smoked beef brisket sandwich with... More

Staying in French Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
