We were holidaying in New Orleans and had taken the Street Car out to Audobon Park. Afterwards we decided to walk back along St Charles and stop at the nearest bar. It was a long walk but eventually we stumbled across the Superior Seafood and Oyster Bar. By then it was lunchtime so we thought we may as well stop... More

Large variety of food and they're all really good. We had oysters, alligator and shrimp - all delicious!

Great oysters, good service, friendly people. Great conversation with oyster shockers about their family history and the city's hot spots

My daughter demanded I come here. A white tablecloth restaurant that has 50 cent oyster specials. Not small, sickly oysters, but large fresh healthy oysters. Literally, such a bargain.. Very friendly staff. Our tip was almost as much as the bill. No gimmicks.

Do not waste your time at Superior Seafood. In a city known for its food and hospitality, Superior Seafood fails to deliver on both counts. I was at a party in a private room with 53 people. Superior Seafood failed to provide adequate seating for our group which made it impossible for 3 members of my family to eat. (There... More

This was our second visit to Superior Seafood - our first just over 2 years ago - and it was just as good as we remembered. We made it in time for happy hour (4pm-6.30pm) which we took advantage of with cheap beer, wine, and, most importantly, raw oysters, and the 4 of us agreed they were the best oysters... More

My husband and I stopped in for the .50 each oyster special. I don't do oysters so I chose the side salad and a glass of wine. Highly recommend this place.

Came for dinner, recommended by a near by hotel. Service was excellent and attentive. The server explained items that we were not familiar with. Dinner was not rushed. Seafood was perfectly prepared. Side dishes offered were varied.

The happy hour is insane. If like oysters you have to go. If you don't make happy hour its still well worth the visit. Great spot.

Had a rather lovely meal here tonight. Blackened catfish for me and shrimp skewer for my wife. I started with the seafood gumbo but must admit am not a fan! Good selection of wines and beers. A very pleasant night out.

Staying in Garden District

Neighbourhood Profile
Garden District
Head to the Garden District for the full-on New Orleans experience replete with quaintly clanking streetcars, proudly grandiose antebellum mansions, picture perfect avenues lined with live oaks loaded down with Spanish moss, and a wealth of beautiful churches and many more architectural marvels. Even a brief excursion here makes plain why it’s called the Garden District. So, when you visit be sure to give yourself ample time for admiration at a languidly slow pace befitting such gentile strand of riverside living and to allow you to maximize each opportunity to stop and smell the roses – and whichever other blooms you might come across. While taking it all in, you’d do well to dine at one of the city’s most beloved destinations for regional cuisine. Gourmands from far and wide (and right round the corner) swear the age-old Commander’s Palace is the best restaurant in town – and have been doing so since it opened back in 1880.
