There are a number of candy shops in the Quarter, but this one is definitely the best. The staff, especially Dwayne, are helpful in pointing you in the right direction and getting you swift service. The Rum Pralines are a must buy.

The Creamy Prailine Fudge is good, but the Traditional Fudge my wife makes is better than their Chocolate Fudge. Their Toffee is good, but, again, as good as my wife makes. The Milk Chocolate Truffle is wonderful. My wife doesn't make truffles.

What a great place to taste and buy candy. You may have to wait to buy candy but it is definitely worth the weight. Everyone is talking about the pralines but my favorite here was the jellies candies. I have not had any so good since my childhood over 40 years ago. Definite stop for candy lovers

We loved to stop here on a regular basis while walking around the French Quarter. They have fee samples, which was nice, but we usually bought something, as they were so good. Always worth a stop. There are multiple locations in the Quarter. Note that they are called prah-lines here not pray-lines

Every time we are in the French Quarter I have to get some pralines to take home, I love all their flavors and would not miss stopping here for the world.

What drew me to this store was the sparkling clean floors (rather a rarity in this town). The shop offers free samples on pralines. The shop has a huge selection of chocolates & candies behind glass display counters. They also sale ice cream. Laura's was opened in 1913, making it the oldest confectionery in New Orleans. In 1997, chocolatier John... More

We always always bring home a couple of boxes for us and our neighbors when we come to NOLA. It is caramel, pecan layered with either dark or milk chocolate. 1lb box is $19.99 which at first seemed high but it's really not! This is really quality stuff! Today we actually drove 30 minutes out of our way back from... More

Staying in French Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
