I love this restaurant and have been many times. This place never fails to deliver a delicious meal in a funky, relaxed atmosphere. It is a joy to introduce out of town visitors to the alligator sausage cheesecake appetizer, blackened redfish with chili hollondaise, or any other dish that sparks their interest. Complimentary butter soaked slightly sweet cornbread muffins are... More

I loved everything about my dinner here! This was my first ever Jambalaya and I loved every morsel. I couldn't get enough of the blackened red fish. Simply perfect. The staff is lovely and has intuitive knowledge of what to do and when. Very sweet also without being smothering. The decor is funky and welcoming. I am very delighted to... More

Don’t let the sign fool you. Probably the best meal we had in NOLA. Located in a part of NO that is rebuilding, it was an interesting place, and you can walk around after dinner to some of the shops. Appeared to be a destination restaurant as we saw a lot of cars pull up while we were eating to... More

We loved our dinner experience at Jacques-Imo's! We arrived at 5 (opening) on a weekday and were seated immediately. Our server was super friendly and attentive, and very knowledgeable about their menu. I had their watermelon mojito before dinner - unique and tasty. We shared an alligator cheesecake appetizer and everyone in our party enjoyed it. The house spinach salad... More

We were recommended this venue by a local friend of ours and we are so glad we visited. So much character to this restaurant! And the food is fantastic! We ordered the alligator and shrimp cheesecake, yum, followed by the snails, fried chicken and a oyster stuffed soft shell crab. All great! Drinks were fantastic. Our waitress was so friendly... Had to wait an hour but it was so totally worth it! The corn bread muffins are the bomb! A few drinks later, we had the spinach salad with a fried oyster and a tasty vinaigrette. Our party of 4 had blackened redfish, alligator cheesecake & calamari and fried grits. Everything was fabulous! I can't wait to go back!!!

We were told by locals to eat here. The restaurant is not in the French Quarter but it is an easy Uber or cab ride away. The dinner specials were right on mark. I had the Red Snapper and it was cooked to perfection. Others at my table had the Godzilla, which was a soft shell crab special. It was... More

About a 15 ride from the French Quarter, Jacques Imo's is worth the journey across town. You could almost miss it, but the "broken down" truck outside lets you know you've arrived. It's quite small and you can't book, so be prepared to wait. The walls of the bar area are covered with canvas paintings whilst the ceiling is littered... More

I was looking forward to our visit at Jacques-Imo's and enjoyed the food very much, I only wish we could have enjoyed each course without feeling like we had to hurry up and get out. The wait staff was friendly and attentive but clearly had direction to turn tables quickly. We were still finishing alligator cheesecake and shrimp remoulade when... More

This place is cozy-tiny with a quirky decor - walls are filled with funky paintings. Lighting is rather dark. It is located in the area of the city quite off-the-beaten-path. One could easily pass it by without knowing what food delights await you inside. We called late without a reservation and luckily they had been able to accommodate our large... More

Staying in Uptown / Carrollton

Neighbourhood Profile
Uptown / Carrollton
Very much their own self sufficient unit within the greater metro area, Uptown and Carrollton tone down the urban edge with a friendly attitude and collegiate feel. Home to Tulane and Loyola Universities, all the students living in the area ensure that Uptown and Carrollton stay youthful, cosmopolitan and vibrantly fun. Two of the liveliest thoroughfares for nightlife and socializing (and yes of course more of the city’s outstandingly good food and live music) are Oak Street and Maple Street. For a truly wild time, the expansive acreage of Audubon Park, with its zoo, golf course, and actual patches of swampy wetlands, means peace and quiet are never too far away.
