We had a very good waiter (Mike) who explained the specials well and made excellent recommendations on the menu. Our cocktails were done exactly as ordered and nicely garnished. We got two appetizers and shared. One was crawfish augratin which was rich and creamy. The other was an oyster and shrimp dish that we loved. I had the Rosemary Chicken... More

Our son sent us here for my wife's birthday. I would not have gone searching for Italian food in NOLA, but I am glad we were sent here. Not a huge menu; which was fine for me. I find most Italian restaurants that I go to have a menu book and specials on top of that. I would go back... More

This is our favorite place to eat in New Orleans. Every trip we have made here we have gone to Irene's and have never been disappointment. The chicken plate is our favorite. We also had the duck and the lasagna. A must go to place while you are there.

We went to this place because Harry Connick Jr had mentioned it on his show and we loved it. It looks like a secret location that you would hardly notice from the outside but the inside is packed with eclectic decorations and pictures and is a fun atmosphere. The food was exceptional. The mushroom soup starter was very good and... More

We recently dined at Irene's with Mike as our waiter. He did a great job and was very attentive (even though they were busy....as usual). We had the crab meat au gratin for an appetizer, with my wife enjoying the lasagna and I the Duck St. Phillip. Our Wine choice was Pairing (excellent). You will have a memorable meal in... More

Over the years, Irene's has always been a favorite of ours, and we wanted to be sure to dine there at least one more time before it has to close or relocate. We were so disappointed, not sure where to begin. We were herded in with tourists in tee shirts, shorts, and flip flops. Our server rushed us from start... More

The Duck St. Phillip is the reason I keep coming back to Irene's every year. The place is always packed, and there's even a line when they open at 5:30. Phone reservations only, but it's well worth it.

Just left Irene's. Wine wine was served warm. Took forever to find server as they have four dining areas and had to ask three servers to find her. She took my wine and I saw her put ice cubes in another glass to cool it down and then poor my wine into it. She re-served my wine. It was still... More

Staying in French Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
