Not that I would know, I never ate sweetbreads before! But I had the Taramasalata, Pita Crisps, and Greek Salad followed by Veal Sweetbreads in Sherry-Mustard Butter. I am not an organ meats eater, normally, and so was a little nervous, but this is the menu item Chef Susan Spicer began Bayona with. It was so very good, very mild... More

3/20/17. I will remember this date as the day I received the worst service at a restaurant in 58 years of life. The food was phenomenal. Not the best in New Orleans, but still great. The restaurant was over half empty and it took almost three hours to complete our meal and get out. There were three wait and backup... More

We arrived late in New Orleans and this gracious French Quarter restaurant welcomed us warmly. Top chef Susan Spicer does very good food and we also enjoyed the casual ambience.

We loved our meal at Bayona. The atmosphere was warm and elegant and the meal was out of this world. I had the rabbit and my partner enjoyed the lamb. You cannot go wrong with this restaurant. First class all the way!

Arrived a little early for our dinner reservation, and were directed to the "lounge" by a lady wearing cowboy boots. The "lounge" is actually just a small alcove, with only a few seats and no refreshments. For what I thought was an upscale restaurant, there must not be any kind of dress code. While we waited, two men arrived wearing... More

Great appetizers, entrees, and desserts here this week with customers. Really enjoyed the rabbit and also the fried duck liver. Nice setting that was not loud at all. Wait staff was a little different and off to a slow start but they were not without talent.

Every time I visit New Orleans, I have to dine at Bayona, a world class restaurant, and chef Spicer at the level of any Michelin 3 stars chef. He cuisine is perfection, wine selection incredible. I considered myself the best sweetbreads dish in the world when I compared to the ones made by re known chef in Paris. I have... More

I was told this was one of the best restaurants in NOLA so maybe I was expecting perfection. Food was good, not great and service was slow. We were seated more than 30 minutes after our reservation but they did comp us our cocktails. It is a lovely building and I wanted to love the food and have a perfect... More

We came to eat in the French Quarter at every highly rated restaurant and eagerly anticipated this stop on our two year adventure eating around the US. While every ingredient was top drawer and the plates were gorgeous, I have to say the flavor profiles were really off or lacking. Things were very bland or very salty. We tried the... More

Staying in French Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
