Only open for lunch from 11-3pm. You can walk from the Quarter or take the Canal streetcar at least part of the way. A wonderful experience in an iconic New Orleans restaurant. Delicious fried chicken. Lovely restaurant with interesting African-American art. Excellent staff and maybe you will get to meet Leah Chase -- we did. Read all about her on... More

Our flight on Delta on April 7, 2017 was cancelled. We were given vouchers for Dooky Chase. We arrived shortly before closing time (8 PM !!!). The servers attitude was like he did not want to see us. The kitchen already closed and only cold sandwiches and snacks were available. Our drinks never arrived even after we ordered our meal.... More

A local friend took me to Dooky Chase last Friday evening certain I would enjoy its celebrated Creole cooking. We got there and stood patiently waiting for a table for over an hour. The 2 ladies in charge of seating were sweet but totally disorganised. It took them almost half an hour to take our names. And throughout anyone that... More

This is the one place you should all read about before heading to eat. It so important to understand why Dooky Chase is what they stand for. The fried chicken is out of this world - if you want to go dinner, make sure you book a table in advance as it is only on Friday evenings. Ms Leah Chase... More

After years of living in Baton Rouge on and off and frequenting the Quater for 2+ deacades, I finally made it to Dooky's in Aug. of '16. The food is wonderful...Red Beans and Rice like I've never had. Also, if you ask nicely, and quietly, if Mrs. Leah Chase is available, she'll meet you! She was living joy! We were... More

Friends told me we were going to eat fried chicken today. I didn't know the destination and the history behind it. We arrived at 11:30 and were seated immediately. This wasn't the case for those who came 45 minutes later. The buffet was delicious. We were able to go to the kitchen and talk with Miss Leah. It was a... More

I recently visited Nola and had seen this restaurant reviews on the food network channel. It was a wonderful experience. We had to wait about 15 minutes for a table but it was worth the wait.

Neighbourhood Profile
That sound? That flavor? That certain je ne sais quoi that lets you known you’re in “Nawlins” and nowhere else? It’s all good and in broad abundance on the streets of Tremé, where so much of what’s considered to be the very best of New Orleans culture and tradition is, put simply, just how people go about their daily lives in this historic part of town. As one of America’s oldest African-American neighborhoods and among the nation’s first established residential areas for free people of color, Tremé’s significant heritage and contribution cannot be understated. This is especially the case when considering some of Tremé’s most famous residents, most notably jazz great Louis Armstrong. For full flavored food, funky and jazzed up music, and vibrant street life presented with homegrown pride, you can’t beat a visit to Tremé.
