We ate the lunch buffet so we could sample several different things and couldn't decide what we liked best. This place has been in business since 1941. The various rooms are beautiful and nicely decorated with Mrs. Chase's collection of African-American artwork. We roamed from...More

I arrived at Dooky Chase at 1100 am and walked right in and was seated. The restaurant was nice and clean. I ordered fried chicken with Mac and Cheese. The fried chicken was the best that I have ever had. The service was great as...More

Went for lunch the other day. Loved the painting son the wall. You could feel the history when you walked in. Hostess was nice as well as the rest of the staff. On to the food. The menu seems to change based on what Mrs....More

Located north of downtown this is a famous and historical restaurant servicing both a buffet and a la cart menu for lunch during the week (closed on weekends). Our family group of 5 waited about 40 minutes at 11:30am on a Friday to be seated,...More

I was so excited to finally get a chance to eat at the famous Dooky Chase. Arrived for our reservations and was seated pretty quickly. When the server arrived at our table, she started by telling us what they didn't have....huh? I was not interested...More

Got there at 2pm hoping to miss the crowd. 45 min wait, and buffet was very sad at that point. The only thing they freshened was the chicken. It was excellent so I guess that made it worth it. We had planned to order something...More

Came here for a late lunch and decided to order the signature dishes (gumbo and fried chicken). Food was good (not amazing) but service was so bad and fairly unpleasant (except for the bus boy)!!!!!! I would definitely recommend avoiding this place (sorry, Leah Chase)!

I’d read glowing reviews of this place, so we tried it out as a candidate for our we’d party. Unfortunately, we were disappointed. The food was good enough. Not great, but good. The service was really friendly, but not overly prompt or attentive - seemed...More

I had the pleasure of speaking with the co-founder, Leah Chase, in her kitchen, while there in October. Though she is in her 90s, she still cooks. This restaurant is a national treasure and a must for anyone who visits or lives in New Orleans....More

That sound? That flavor? That certain je ne sais quoi
that lets you known you’re in “Nawlins” and nowhere
else? It’s all good and in broad abundance on the
streets of Tremé, where so much of what’s considered
to be the very best of New Orleans culture and
tradition is, put simply, just how people go about
their daily lives in this historic part of town. As
one of America’s oldest African-American neighborhoods

There is a lot of parking in the area. Walking while it's light is fine that said, I would think twice about walking at night.
