This is a New Orleans tradition that has lost it way. We were here for dinner with a party of 6. The food ran the gamut from very good to just acceptable. My fish was overcooked. The shocker, however was when I ordered Blantons bourbon, a bourbon that I drink regularly. What I received wasn't Blantons, it wasn't even bourbon,... More

We decided to go to early at 5:30PM to avoid any rush for a table and were delighted to be seated at a 2 top in the back of the restaurant. (You can see everyone through the mirrors!) The last few diners from the long Friday lunch were clearly finishing up and other early bird diners trickling in, like us.... More

Ate there Thursday March 16th, and they were busy. To see people actually have to dress up to enter this 5 star restaurant is one of it's great charms. I hate spending big bucks in restaurants that allow patrons to come in with t-shirts / shorts looking like slobs etc... Men who don't wear a sport coat or a suit... More

Galatoire is reminiscent of a New York steakhouse, but serves delicious and authentic Cajun and Creole dishes. It is likely the fanciest/classiest place to dine on Bourbon Street- men must wear suit jackets! Both the food and service were excellent but the vibe was a little too stuffy for a girl's night out on Bourbon Street.

Where to begin? This pompous restaurant has the reputation of being a "must stand in line- no reservations taken- fine dining restaurant". Reportedly they made Mick Jagger and Dwight Eisenhower stand in line and are proud of that. The host told us people pay hundreds of dollars to have folks stand in line for them until they are able to... More

I have to rate this slightly lower because I went to Galatoires for the amazing crab dishes they offer on the menu. Sadly we were informed that given the time of year crabs are not in season. That kind of killed the excitement of the visit for me. That said though I had the duck crepe appetizer and it was... More

When you go to New Orleans, fine dining is the norm. However, getting a reservation at the last minute can be a hassle. My family's favorite restaurant in New Orleans is GALATOIRES. We've been enjoying New Orleans' best since the 1930s. My go-to-meal starts with Oysters en Brouchette (slab bacon and oyster deep fried) and I share a Stuffed Eggplant... More

We have eaten at this restaurant many times and have not been disappointed. I specially like their oysters rockefeller. A good selection of cocktails and wines is also available.

The welcome, the service, the patrons, the food are all top notch. This is a return visit for us. We have never through the decades had any issue at all with this restaurant. Trust the experience to be top notch. Have absolute confidence that the ingredients and the preparation will be outstanding. You will tell others about the experience. Take... More

If you are visiting NOLA and can't figure out what fun thing to do next try to get reservations for Friday lunch at Galatoire's on Bourbon St. I was lucky enough to check it out. It's a loud and rambunctious lunch full of people having a good time. Dress is formal and food is delicious. I had fried oysters rapped... More

Staying in French Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
