This bar could use some updates but the food and service is great. It is a great place to visit with the large bar that takes up almost the entire place. There is a bit of seating outside but inside is much cooler on a hot day. The atmosphere is very homey and and the prices are ok. This place... More

We found the Delachaise a relaxing experience after the charged atmosphere of the French Quarter. We ordered drinks and ate at the bar. I'd never had frog legs before; they were tasty, tasty, tasty. We ordered a soupcon of other items, including les moules et frites and le bifteck. Really yummy. And reasonably priced. Oh, and we were introduced to... More

We visited this restaurant because it was open late. You have to order your food at the bar and then they bring it to your table. We waited forever for someone to acknowledge us and take our order. The menu is eclectic, and although my husband and I both enjoyed our food, we shared some Pommes Frites, I had a... More

This place is just what we were looking for on a beautiful Saturday evening to get out of the French quarter. They have an extensive wine selection and the staff is very knowledgeable. You order food and drinks at the bar and then they bring them out to you. This is a quaint place that is nice for relaxing in... More

The Delachaise is a Garden District wine bar, with an outstanding selection of wines, as well as, delicious food! The chef offers many items that are typically found at New Orleans restaurants, but with a very creative and international twist! For example, the mussels on the menu were Thai chili mussels-they were quite spicy and equally delicious! My husband ordered... More

After a very long journey to New Orleans we just wanted somewhere close to the hotel for dinner and a glass or two. We had a great evening at The Delachaise. The staff members were really friendly and gave us lots of ideas for things to do during our visit. There are tables inside and seats at the bar but... More

I visited the area on business, and winding down here with a nice glass of wine was great. Perfect spot for a glass of wine and cheese board (the selection is amazing and all were delicious), or a full dinner. The steak I ate here was perfectly cooked - my only suggestion would be to cut back a bit on... More

The Delachaise is a New Orleans institution. It's a sort of bar cum lounge that serves a higher form of bar food. It is long and narrow -- it also has a patio. The Delachaise is in New Orleans' Garden District, an up market neighbourhood of the Big Easy.

This is a great place for a first dtae. Casual with light bites with some ambience. This was the location of our first date with the man who is now my fiance'. It is small so it can get crowded; you have to time it just right. Very relaxing to sit outside on a nice evening an d watch the... More

Staying in Garden District

Neighbourhood Profile
Garden District
Head to the Garden District for the full-on New Orleans experience replete with quaintly clanking streetcars, proudly grandiose antebellum mansions, picture perfect avenues lined with live oaks loaded down with Spanish moss, and a wealth of beautiful churches and many more architectural marvels. Even a brief excursion here makes plain why it’s called the Garden District. So, when you visit be sure to give yourself ample time for admiration at a languidly slow pace befitting such gentile strand of riverside living and to allow you to maximize each opportunity to stop and smell the roses – and whichever other blooms you might come across. While taking it all in, you’d do well to dine at one of the city’s most beloved destinations for regional cuisine. Gourmands from far and wide (and right round the corner) swear the age-old Commander’s Palace is the best restaurant in town – and have been doing so since it opened back in 1880.
