GO. Its one of the best places I had a meal in New Orleans, not expensive, very unique and original restaurant, and the oysters are to die for. You will do a line, I haven´t seen it empty, but its totally worth it.

We started with the chargrilled oysters which were delicious. My husband enjoyed a cup of gumbo and we split the mixed seafood platter. The seafood platter was huge and included fried shrimp, oysters, crab claws and we subbed calamari for the catfish since they were out. They use only a light dusting of corn flour so this Gluten free girl... More

We had heard a lot about this place and love oysters so we thought we'd try it out. Actually the grilled oysters we had were fantastic! However, the fried catfish was very bland tasting, it didn't seem to have any flavoring in the breading. I ended up getting some tartar sauce to spice it up a little bit. The service... More

The best oysters since I was I child until this day. I don't want to go any other place for oysters. I like the no nonsense atmosphere, the simple menu, coldest drinks and the freshest seafood. Softshell crab hard to pass up as well.

Family run business on Magazine St where most of the patrons were locals. The service was friendly and helpful. We arrived at 6:30 and were seated within 10 mins, a queue soon formed not long after. The menu has lots of seafood options. The food was average with fries not hot / fresh. For a coeliac desperate for normal fried... More

My husband and I make a point to go at least once a year to Casamento's for our Oyster Poboy Fix!! They are only open in months that have an "R" in them because that's when the oysters are the BEST! Comfortable seating, fast, friendly service! Of course we have Root Beer with our Poboys!!

Skip the Loaf. Get the dinner instead. The loaf is lots of bread and only a few cents less than the dinner which includes fries instead of all that. The shrimp and oysters are the real deal.

This place was definitely worth it. For anyone who is gluten free sensitive, all the fried food is available for you! Nostalgic, lots of locals and definitely on our list the next time we're in the area!

OMG! Always fantastique! Does Cassamento's own their own oyster beds - they always have the best fresh, raw oysters on the half shell and their fried seafood is divine!

This is our first time visit after seeing review on TripAdviser. It is a disappointment. I ordered raw oysters and a catfish loafer. The oysters came very dirty, floating on dirty water, yuk! And the catfish loafer has no flavor at all. They must forgot to put any salt. Lettuce and tomato cost you extra money. And they accept cash... More

Staying in Garden District

Neighbourhood Profile
Garden District
Head to the Garden District for the full-on New Orleans experience replete with quaintly clanking streetcars, proudly grandiose antebellum mansions, picture perfect avenues lined with live oaks loaded down with Spanish moss, and a wealth of beautiful churches and many more architectural marvels. Even a brief excursion here makes plain why it’s called the Garden District. So, when you visit be sure to give yourself ample time for admiration at a languidly slow pace befitting such gentile strand of riverside living and to allow you to maximize each opportunity to stop and smell the roses – and whichever other blooms you might come across. While taking it all in, you’d do well to dine at one of the city’s most beloved destinations for regional cuisine. Gourmands from far and wide (and right round the corner) swear the age-old Commander’s Palace is the best restaurant in town – and have been doing so since it opened back in 1880.
