My family ate here on our first night in town during our New Orleans vacation. My wife got the catfish tacos and even though there were only 2, they were enormous! They were also VERY good. I got the fried shrimp and it was also very good. My son got catfish and enjoyed as well. Our service was a tiny... More

While the service was a little slow, the food was excellent! Our party tried the eggplant, all you can eat catfish, and fried green tomatoes. All of the food was delicious and had amazing flavor. I would definitely visit again!

We arrived in the Garden District late in the afternoon after spending the morning at the Zoo. We were hungry and weren't familiar with the restaurants there, and I chose Joey K's based off reviews I had read. It was a bright and colorful place, and perfect for families. One word of warning: the portion sizes are HUGE! You will... More

We had the fried green tomatoes and shrimp. The food was very tasty and the service was good. Not fancy, just comfortable with a nice menu.

The Magazine Shrimp was drowning in olive oil, half of the artichokes still had tough pokey out leaves, and the shrimp were way overcooked (and some still had some shell). The rest of my family enjoyed their meals, but an unpleasant experience for me.

Awesome local spot in NOLA. We had delicious cat fish po-boys, and bread pudding for dessert. Great vibes, good prices, really pretty and cozzy. Highly recommend it!!!!

A great place for casual dining on Magazine street in the Garden District. Great food, good service in a convenient location. The fried oysters were very good, as well as the dinner size salads. We will be back on our next visit.

Our hotel was very close to the well known Garden District and we took the street car a short distance, then walked the 6 blocks or so to Joey K's on our first night in NOLA. My husband had the "Trout Tchoupitoulas" and I had the "Shrimp Magazine". Both of these were unusual dishes, but quite delicious! The shrimp dish... More

We went for dinner. You can tell by the customers there it's a local place . Food was delicious. We had the shrimp magazine, shrimp with eggplant and pasta, trout dish and the seafood platter . It was all very good, generous portions but not over the top. Cute place , clean. We went about 7, and as we were... More

This is a really cute, quaint lunch spot, perfect for some of the great flavors that New Orleans has to offer. I had never had Jambalaya before this experience, but it was truly a great one! The ladies I came with tried the chicken fried chicken, which they said was better than anything they've had in Texas. The catfish tacos,... More

Staying in Garden District

Neighbourhood Profile
Garden District
Head to the Garden District for the full-on New Orleans experience replete with quaintly clanking streetcars, proudly grandiose antebellum mansions, picture perfect avenues lined with live oaks loaded down with Spanish moss, and a wealth of beautiful churches and many more architectural marvels. Even a brief excursion here makes plain why it’s called the Garden District. So, when you visit be sure to give yourself ample time for admiration at a languidly slow pace befitting such gentile strand of riverside living and to allow you to maximize each opportunity to stop and smell the roses – and whichever other blooms you might come across. While taking it all in, you’d do well to dine at one of the city’s most beloved destinations for regional cuisine. Gourmands from far and wide (and right round the corner) swear the age-old Commander’s Palace is the best restaurant in town – and have been doing so since it opened back in 1880.
