Dipped into Johnny's after it was recommended twice as the best PoBoy in town, and while I don't have a comparison..it'd be hard to beat. The sandwiches are huge. Fortunately we saw a few coming out and decided to share. We had a ham PoBoy and a shrimp PoBoy ("dressed" for a couple of bucks more so it came with... More

The food is great but set your expectations for a small local joint. Expect a line and expect to share your food the portions are enormous! Great place we visit every time we are in NOLA.

We got lucky and missed the crowd that arrived minutes after. The shrimp po-boy made my eyes roll back. Sweet tender shrimp, perfectly cooked and served on fresh French bread.

We did a segway tour of NOLA and were hungry when we were done so we asked for a recommendation on place to eat. They asked what we were looking for and my wife said a Po Boy so they said we needed to hit Johnny's. We walked a few blocks to the location and the line was out the... More

I've got two Po-Boy fans and one Muffaletta lover in my family. This place satisfied all of their food desires. Since seating is minimal and the place stays super crowded throughout most of the day, we took it to go and enjoyed our food on a park bench in Jackson Square. Between the Catfish Po-Boy, the Alligator Sausage Po-Boy, and... More

The place was always packed which is a good sign. We missed it the first day because we didn't realize they close after lunch so go early. My boyfriend and I shared a shrimp po-boy, side of fries and a shrimp and grits. Everything was good but we wished there was more mayo or sauce on the po-boy, which we... More

First the pros: Very friendly staff who work as quickly as possible. The cons: CRAMPED atmosphere. People all over everyone else. Really too small to eat in the establishment unless its empty. Long lines that are not justified by the food. Had the shrimp PoBoy with fries. Really nothing special about this place. Not a ton of flavor. you can... More

Numerous people recommended this spot for an "authentic" po-boy. I will admit that the location made me a bit sceptical, but we all agreed that it was delicious!

Johnny's is a hole-in-the-wall, which is usually the best. There's no real atmosphere; just tables, and a few pictures of people who've visited. Service was good, even though they were quite busy. Their catfish po-boy was delicious; very fresh, and didn't have an "over-fried" taste to it. I'd return to Johnny's again the next time I am in town.

My family and I stopped by here to grab a bite before leaving town. The portions are big, you could probably split one po-boy between two people and be satisfied. The baguette bread they used for the po-boys was AMAZING.

Thank P B

Staying in French Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
