I have known the owners of this restaurant for more than 29 years. This is a "must stop" when my wife and I are visiting New Orleans. My all time favorite is the shrimp Po Boy but the other offerings are equally as good. Try it.....I know you will be pleased.

Some might say we are lacking in originality or adventure, but having found this little gem, why waste time walking to anywhere else? Staying at a local hotel offering expensive breakfasts at twice the price of P&G, what's not to like. We tried different items on the menu and had a hearty breakfast which set us up for the day,... Enjoyed Breakfast this trip and last. Especially love the home fries. Price can't be beat so this is a must if you are in the area. Only issue it they are not open Sundays.

A classic favorite in the CBD, popular with both locals and tourists. You order at the counter, with a choice of po boy sandwiches, burgers, and lunch plates. Ordering seems a little chaotic, but it's NOLA ... and it all works out. Simple, diner-like seating, able to handle an ample lunch crowd. I had a shrimp po boy and fries,... More

Great food, great service and no headache. Great to stop by for a quick bite. We went for a few quick breakfasts while at a conference nearby and it hit the spot each time. Egg sandwich was simple and done right.

We visited this restaurant in 2004 with my parents and then young children. It was the perfect place to go because it was inexpensive and they offered plenty of food for breakfast to keep you going. Fastforward 12 years and this was the first place we looked for upon our return. I am happy to say they did not disappoint.... More

Welcoming ! That's the first word that comes to mind for this casual diner! The staff makes this place - everyone worked together and they were very attentive and really seemed to care that we enjoyed our dining experience . You can choose from their cafeteria style specials or order from the menu . Had Good gumbo and fresh salads... More

I was looking for a divey, cafeteria style place to grab a hearty lunch and P&G fit the bill. I was disappointed that there wasn't a selection of green vegetables on the day I visited since that was what I was looking for. I ended up getting the daily crab cake lunch special, which was nothing more than carbohydrate central.... More

This is what a $10 shrimp salad looks like at P&G. It's surprising how expensive lunch has gotten in downtown New Orleans. I walked to P&G because I was in the mood for fried shrimp. Not impressed.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.
