On the way to New Orleans, after a search with TripAdvisor for place to eat, it leaded us to this place. Our intention was to try its restaurant, but, it's closed at 5pm. (We were 5 minutes late. Boohoo.) Luckily, its bakery was still opened. We ordered a grilled pork and a chicken banh mi (Vietnamese sandwiches). Both were taste... More

I'm crazy about Vietnamese bahn mi sandwiches, and try to make a point to hunt one down in every city I visit. The bahn mi sandwiches and the meat-filled pastries at the bakery here are the best that I've ever had, hands-down. Don't pass up the pastry case at the bakery - it's filled with delicate, beautifully made croissants and... More

First time at Dong Phuong and the food was delicious. The banh mi sandwich with pickled vegetable and pate was so fresh and bright and so inexpensive. Pho with spicy beef was very complex and satisfying. Cinnamon Kingcake was absolutely perfect. Looking forward to our next visit!

If I'm eating out with friends in east NOLA, it's Dong Phuong!! Food is made, fresh when ordered. Friendly service, a given. I love the food and pastries from both the restaurant and bakery side!! I'm attaching mouthwatering pictures, so look with caution!!😉💙🎭⚜

I had read some reviews before we left home and was very interested trying this restaurant. This is a bit out of the way (far East side) for most visitors to New Orleans, but it is well worth making the effort. Our first day in NOLA we decided to go to Bayou Savage and this place was in the area,... More

New Orleans food critic Tom Fitzmorris speaks highly of this place. I was passing by, so I had to check it out. Only visited the bakery. Was packed for a Sunday afternoon. Got some delicious meat pies that didn't make it out of the parking lot, French bread for later and cookies and pies for Christmas gifts. Outstanding!

We visited the bakery side of the building for Bahn-Mi sandwiches to go. The sandwiches survived our three-hour car ride home nicely! The veggies were crisp and fresh, and the meat was delicious. The bread....on my. It was perfection. Good chew, tender inside, lightly crisp crust outside. Baked in house. We got two different kinds of sandwiches but liked the... More

We never would have found this restaurant were it not near a place where my husband had a business appointment. We'll definitely go out of our way to go there again. The best VN meal I've ever eaten by far (including in VN). We both had vermicelli: one shrimp wrapped with sugar cane, the other grilled shrimp & pork. Both... More

Situated in East New Orleans and housed in a simple building with a full parking lot and an ever- present queue, you will find an amazing experience. A huge bin of pillowy, hot, crisp baguettes greets you as you follow the line to the Banh Mi station in the bakery. There you will find all the fixings and toppings for... More

The name plaque says 'restaurant,' so I was taken aback when the server simply gave me my food in a takeaway bag. Worse, he made no apologies for his assumptions when I pointed out that I never said it was takeaway. To top it off, as I started to leave, I could hear him mimicking me to his coworker. SERIOUSLY.... More
