What a treat! This unassuming bar has a great neighborhood view from the bar and deck on the second floor. The beer choices were extensive - from local beers to aged Belgian sour beers. All were priced well below what we experienced in the French Quarter. The quiet, neighborhood view including the streetcar passing by was part of the ambiance.... More

I was looking for a chill place I could escape from St. Patrick's Day nonsense. I saw that I could not only get a quality beer in a real glass, but that they serve a Cajun croque monsieur. The beer selection may be the best in New Orleans. The sandwich was solid by American standards. The cheese I fear would... More

Just a short trip out of the city by streetcar. I counted over 44 draft beer taps and got a small glass for just $2. You can't beat that.

The Avenue Pub prides itself on having many craft beers on tap and it does not disappoint! The food is very good and made right in front of you. The owner, Polly is very engaging with her staff and customers which makes it a very welcoming environment!

Diveish, not quite a dive. I liked the wonderful beer selection. My wife thought it was a dive and that the staff was not friendly. I thought the staff was fine. Come for a great beer selection. If it's a nice day, sit on the outside balcony upstairs. Also there are different menus for the upstairs and downstairs beer selections.

Visited the pub twice during my recent trip for Mardi Gras. Prior to the first visit, I checked their website to make sure the balcony would be open and not reserved for a private party and found no mention of one. We Uber'ed there from across town only to find out the balcony was closed for a private party. It... More

I love the variety of beer on offer at the Avenue Pub. It's a dive bar, yes. Your feet may stick to the floor. But they have 44 draft beers on on the main level, +8 different beers upstairs. "Something's by for everyone if you're a beer lover. Try the en Vie IPA. I also have a nice selection of... More

Old "Dive Bar", nice beer selection, interesting menu choices, strange service procedure - you order drinks at one end of a 60 foot bar and you have to walk to the other end with different staff to order food. Walked up to the Drinks side to pay my bill - the bartender came over and gave me $11. I asked... More

Although this place isn't named as a saloon, it really is what it is. The staff here know their stuff and are super friendly. There is great beer from around the world. I sat here for hours, just enjoying lots of beer, reading my book and talking to the bar tenders. Also the mushroom tempora was absolutely incredible. Such a... More

Staying in Garden District

Neighbourhood Profile
Garden District
Head to the Garden District for the full-on New Orleans experience replete with quaintly clanking streetcars, proudly grandiose antebellum mansions, picture perfect avenues lined with live oaks loaded down with Spanish moss, and a wealth of beautiful churches and many more architectural marvels. Even a brief excursion here makes plain why it’s called the Garden District. So, when you visit be sure to give yourself ample time for admiration at a languidly slow pace befitting such gentile strand of riverside living and to allow you to maximize each opportunity to stop and smell the roses – and whichever other blooms you might come across. While taking it all in, you’d do well to dine at one of the city’s most beloved destinations for regional cuisine. Gourmands from far and wide (and right round the corner) swear the age-old Commander’s Palace is the best restaurant in town – and have been doing so since it opened back in 1880.
