We where walking around Custer looking for a place to eat and have a beer. This place was very busy. We walked in and lucked out and where able to get seated quickly. All the beers we tasted where pretty good. The food was also very good. The atmosphere was great for talking and meeting locals. I would go here... More

If you're not sure which tap beer to choice, ask for a sample. Bar tenders are very friendly and the beer selection is good.

This is a bar and grill that is way above average: creative food and a challenging assortment of beer. My sauerkraut burger on rye bun was exceptional! The bread pudding excellent! Too little time to try all the unique beer in the cooler. Very pleasant and efficient way staff and the owner friendly and personable. I cannot wait to go... More

My husband and I stopped in for a beer late afternoon on a Saturday. We sat at the bar facing a wall. Just found it to be odd, doesn't make for good atmosphere. The bar and tables are kind of squeezed in the space but not much can be done about that. We were disappointed in the hand full of... More

Looking for a place to eat in Custer on a Monday night was a challenge. Our first two choices were closed. But Bitter Esters was open and we were pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere was casual and lay back. The staff was friendly and helpful. I ordered an Asian meatball salad for which I had no expectations and my husband had... More

While passing thru Custer we had plans to stop at another place that happened to be closed for the day. We stopped into Bitter Esters and had a very pleasant experience. The food and beer selections were very tasty. With this being said we were informed that none of the Brews were made on site any longer and that the... More

A cute place for dinner and drinks. The best part is that everything is home made. That's impressive! We had the bread pudding for desert and it was great. It's a nice and very unique little place to stop in and grab a quick and affordable dinner and drinks.

A nice selection of craft beers and a decent menu. The bratwurst and Reuben sandwiches were excellent. The service wasn't great. One beer that was ordered never came and another required several requests.

Stopped in for dinner at about 8p on a Saturday night. Only 1-2 tables were open so I sat at the bar. The beer menu was out of date but the server clarified what was on tap. I chose a Michigan stout. For food I ordered the green bean app and some bangers & mash. All the food was excellent.... More
