The restaurant is unusual as a building as it is in the shape of a steamship. It’s located in Oostduinkerke a few steps from the sea, in the middle of the beautiful dunes. The friendly staff welcomes you and accompanies you to your table. The restaurant has a modern setting and is arranged with comfortable armchairs. The food is very... More

Have never had a meal here, but have had an afternoon treat of 5 excellent desserts plus coffee for €10. What a bargain and what excellent quality. Staff were exceptionally friendly and efficient - not minding when we moved from indoors to out and then back again!

Visited with family and were, as expected, bowled over with the warm, friendly service coupled with the delicious selection of desserts. An absolutely wonderful place to enjoy a relaxing time in extremely comfortable surrounds. Five *

We where immediately shocked about the prices. So we only took one main dish. We also stayed with one glass of wine. We have to say that the food was perfect, but the atmosphere is anonymous. The young servers are well trained technically, but you don't feel welcomed. As there are no curtains or other fabric to lower the acoustics,... More

Absolute must try for connoisseurs on the Belgian food trail. This place is stylishly outfitted, offering two floors of fine dinning. The food is pleasing to the palate as well as to the eye. Leave room for the " Koffie Verwend" - Which is coffee served with a selection of desserts. This is the best choice because you get to... More

Last september we visited this restaurant twice as we had a holiday in Oostduinkerke. Every time we were welcommed in a proffesional way. The service was very good. Most important: the dishes were of an outstanding quality and well presented. The bill was a positive surprice (if one sees the prices asked in the "tavernes" on the seaside-promenade).

I've always been happily suprised with the quality of the dinners I've had and I accepted the noise level somehow. Last time, the service wasn't great (too many new waiters?), the food was good but not enough and hence we were disturbed by the noise level. Will try again, but they lost some credit.

After years of visiting Belgium & seeing this place being rebuilt, we made an effort and got the Kuustram to visit for a drink and to look at the architecture. On arriving, we were told in no uncertain terms that it was not open for drinks and was a restaurant, despite the sign saying Bar. I explained that we had... More

For years we had observed the 'Normandie' from derelict to its final restoration. We were so excited to finally have the opportunity to eat there. So all dressed up and ready to go. . . We were greeted by a surly no, you are not expected, you do not have a reservation. We pointed out our name on the list... More

This was our second visit. On both occasions we were guest of a party in one of the private rooms. They quality of service was 5star and the food was delicious. The facilities are clean and they were very patient of the mess made by kids unwrapping presents and popping party poppers. I'd return again when next in Belgium. We... More
